Each family will be responsible for accumulating the requisite number of volunteer points through completing volunteer jobs during the season. Each job has a point value that varies based on difficulty, time required and/or experience. The total number of volunteer points required per family will be determined by the number of swimmers in your family and total team registration. We understand that some families anticipate having scheduling uncertainties and conflicts during the season, therefore, we plan to offer a limited number of buyouts to help families fulfill some their volunteer requirements.
Families will have the opportunity to sign up for Volunteer Jobs in advance through our online registration system. Jobs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do everything we can to honor your volunteer requests. However, during the season, we may occasionally need to ask you to change meets and/or job assignments. Families that do not sign up prior to the volunteer deadline may be assigned jobs by the Volunteer Coordinator.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If you find that you cannot work a job that you previously signed up for within 2 weeks of that job (after the signup deadline has passed), it is your responsibility to look for someone to replace you for that job and to notify the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as you are aware of your schedule change. Your substitute will be credited your assigned Volunteer Job and you will be required to take a new Volunteer Job. Finding a substitute does not excuse you from a Volunteer Job. As a result, the best practice is to trade jobs.
In the event you miss a Volunteer Job without making prior arrangements and notifying the Volunteer Coordinator, the family's credit card on file will be automatically charged $100 for each missed job and you will not get credit for that job. Also, if you do not complete all of your required volunteer points by the end of the season, you will be charged $100 for each missing point.
Families who do not fulfill their Volunteer Job obligations, as explained above, may be suspended from the team, lose priority registration status, and/or be excluded from team registration the following season. Paying a penalty does not automatically mean you have fulfilled the volunteer obligation. The decision regarding eligibilty for next year's registration willl be made at the discretion of the current Seahawks Board.
We deeply appreciate the dedication and contributions of our volunteers. Your efforts are invaluable in creating a positive and rewarding experience for our swimmers. By adhering to our volunteer policy, we ensure the continued success and spirit of our community swim team. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our team's success!
