SCHOLASTIC ALL-AMERICANS Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its member athletes who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete. SAFETY POSTER CONTEST WINNER! Mara Tynan, of Patriot Swim Club, was named the winner of the USA Swimming Safety Poster contest at the annual USA-S Convention in Aneheim, California this week. Her poster was selected from 10 finalists by the House of Delegates and will be used in the national campaign for safety by USA-Swimming. CONGRATULATIONS to Ryan Harty from Greenwood Memorial Swim Club (GMSC) and Connor Green from The Bluefish Swim Club (ABF) who were selected to represent the United States at the 2013 Fina World Junior Championships. Ryan is swimming the 50 and the 100 Backstroke and Connor is swimming the 50, 100 and 200 Backstroke. The meet is in Dubai (UAI) on August 26-31st. At Junior Nationals in Irvine, The BGSC 15-18 Boys 400 free relay of Matt Hrabchak, Greg DeMatteo, Harrison Haines and Jack Blyzinskyj broke the RES record with a time of 3:32.22. This swim broke the record of 3:32.35 set by the ABF relay of Colby Dunn, Pat Myers, Luca Spinazzola and Jeffrey Thomas set in 2009. Congratulations Gators!!

Congratulations to Jack Folcarelli from Weymouth Waves (WW) Jack was selected as this year's New England Age Group Coach of the Year by his colleagues and fellow coaches. We all have been impressed by the growth an achievement of his athletes over the past couple years, and New England looks forward to the continued growth of his swimmers and his program! The award will be presented to Jack at the ASCA awards banquet during the ASCA World Clinic this September in New Orleans.
