HOW MEETS WORK

For age-group swimmers: Trent will send out meet details a few days prior to the meet but in general this is how most meets work for everyone:

  • Arrive at the meet at 7:30am for team warm up (late arrivals need to be approved by the coach)
  • Find the MBSC team tents
  • Have your swimmer CHECK-IN (they will be scratched from the meet if they do NOT check in)
  • Meet starts at 9:00am
  • Most all meets are on the  MEET MOBILE APP - download this!!!
  • Know your swimmers event # before meet starts, this will be on your receipt from FastSwims and Meet Mobile
  • Heat and lane assignments will be posted about 10-15 mins prior to event on Meet Mobile and.....
  • Alll meets manually post sheets of events and heat number about 10-15 minutes prior to the event - it’s a good idea to have your swimmer get used to checking these (as well as the MEET MOBILE App). Find where these are posted before the meet starts.
  • Have your swimmer talk with the coach about when they should warm up prior to each event. Swimmers should also warm down after each event and then check in with the coach about their race.
  • Warm up/warm down lanes are for just that; warming up and/or down. Remind your child they should not be playing, 'chilling' or hanging out in these lanes
  • Pay attention to the scoreboard and what event they are on - meets can run fast or slow and can be a little confusing at first
  • Fall & winter meets (SCY) are often ran boys on one side, girls on the other side - this effects the order of events
  • Girl events are always ODD numbers, boys events are always EVEN
  • Always check in with the coach before going home
  • It’s fun to take photos of your kids at meets, please know that THERE ARE NO PHOTOS ALLOWED BEHIND THE BLOCKS - NONE. AND NO FILMING BEHIND THE BLOCKS. Find a good spot along the sides or at the flip turn side for your photos and filming.
