SILVER AND GOLD GROUPS
at MPC
SILVER GROUP: This group is for swimmers who are aged 10-14 and will be regularly competing at meets and attending all USA Swimming Camps and select teams they qualify for. Swimmers in this group should be achieving “BB-AA” time standards.
Entry requirements:
- Legal competitive strokes
- Legal competitive turns
Age:
- 11-14
Attendance:
- Recommended 4-5 times a week, practice offered 5 times a week 105 min mix of land and water training
Expectations:
- Push off in streamline and circle swim
- Can do all strokes legally
- Can do effective/legal starts and turns
- Can do a relay start
- Does a crossover back to breast turn
- Know how to put on your own cap
- Understanding of pace clock
Swim meets:
- Expected to compete in all meets they qualify for, at least 6 meets per swim year, (this includes meets with no qualification standards)
Goals:
- Create great practice habits by showing up early ready to learn
- Improve endurance, speed and efficiency
- Set goals for swim meets
- Qualify for meets such as Age Group Champs
- Able to do all strokes, starts and turns legally and efficiently
- Compete in the following events: 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 IM in a meet
Behavior expectations:
- Respect- others and the facility/equipment
- Be on time, hurry when late
- Move with purpose through transitions
Be Prepared:
- Have a snack before practice
- Bring all needed equipment INCLUDING WATER
- Bring tennis shoes to drylan
- Be Positive

GOLD GROUP: This group is for swimmers who are aged 10-14 and will be regularly competing at meets and attending all USA Swimming Camps and select teams they qualify for. Swimmers in this group should be achieving “AAAA-AA” time standards.
Entry requirements:
- Mastery of all four strokes, turns
- Have competed at meets with MBSC or another club team
Age:
11-14
Attendance:
- Recommended 5-6 times a week, practice offered 6 times a week 105 min mix of land and water training
Expectations:
- Push off in streamline and circle swim
- Can do all strokes legally
- Can do effective/legal starts and turns
- Can do a relay start
- Does a crossover back to breast turn
- Know how to put on your own cap
- Understanding of pace clock
- Qualify for Championship meet
Swim meets:
- Expected to compete in all meets they qualify for, at least 6 per swim year (this includes meets with no qualification standards)
Goals:
- Create great practice habits by showing up early ready to learn

- Qualify for meets such as Far Westerns
- Mastery of the pace clock
- Compete in the following events: 500 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 IM in a meet
