THE OTTERS
at MPC
The Otters focuse on teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming. This group has a dual purpose of improving swimmers' water safety as well as developing sound fundamentals for all four competitive swimming strokes, diving, turns, and intervals.
Entry requirements:
- 25 yards unaided on stomach without stopping
- 25 yards unaided on back without stopping
Age:
- 11&Under
Attendance:
- Recommended 2-3 times a week, practice offered 4 times a week 75 min mix of land and water training
Expectations:
- Streamline off every wall
- Circle swim
- Finish to the wall
Swim meets:
- 2 required team meets per year+any other meets they want to attend
Goals:
- Know the basics of all four strokes
- Know the basics of a dive
- Know the basics of a flip turn
- Basic understanding of a pace clock
Behavior expectations:
- Respect others and the facility/equipment
- Be on time, hurry when late
- Move with purpose through transitions
Be Prepared:
- Have a snack before practice
- Bring all needed equipment INCLUDING WATER
- Bring tennis shoes to dryland
