Buffalo Area Community Center Information

Wouldn't it be amazing to have an indoor, 50-meter competition pool in Buffalo? Did you know there are only TWO of these pools in the entire state of MN (Rochester & Minneapolis)?

Let's work together and see if it can be done!

Take this quick SURVEY to let the City know what types of special amenities and special events that could be hosted at a facility of this nature! The survey can be mailed in, emailed or dropped off at Buffalo Community Center in downtown Buffalo (206 Central Ave) during business hours.

Survey Talking Points/the WHY behind this endeavor:

  • Buffalo only has one indoor competition pool (@ Buffalo Community Middle School). The pool received a new HVAC and water filtration system in 2016.
  • There is a need for an aquatic facility for recreational AND competitive purposes.
  • Indoor aquatic facility to maximize year-round usage.
  • 50 meter pool w/moveable bulkhead to transition to two 25-yard pools is ideal.
  • Separate diving well with one and three meter boards to accomodate diving programs.
  • Unique opportunity to generage revenue and boost the local economy due to the scarcity of indoor 50-meter pools in the state of MN.
  • Families currently travel to other local communities (Hutchinson, Monticello, Maple Grove) to access recreational pools and to the greater state of MN to access indoor 50-meter competition pools (Fargo, ND and Minneapolis, MN).
  • Due to limited 50-meter pools statewide, many local and regional swim meets could be hosted here year-round.
  • Two to four day-long competitive swim meets could be hosted several times a year generating revenue for the city itself and surrounding areas (hotel stays, restaurants, shopping, etc.)

The new location also has room for outdoor programming on the green space around the building.
