MINNESOTA SWIMMING TIME STANDARDS

Minnesota Swimming sets Time Standards each fall for age group swimming. These time standards are goal times for age group swimmers to achieve in order to advance to the end of the season Minnesota Championship Meets.

The Short Course Season (YARDS) runs early September to early March.

The Long Course Season (METERS) runs mid-April to early August each year.

There will be meets in yards pools during the Long Course Season as we live in MN and cannot swim outside in meters pools until the end of May typically. There are only a handful of indoor 50-meter pools in the state of MN.

BOTTOM LINE - If the swim meet is in a yards pool, use the short course standards. If the swim meet is in a meters pool, use the long course standards.

Below are links to the 2025-2026 Minnesota Swimming Time Standards, which expire on September 30th, 2026. New standards take effect on October 1st of every year.
