USA Swimming

The Peak Waves Swim Team is a registered USA Swimming Club.  USA Swimming is the nation-wide governing body for competitive swimming in the United States. As overseer of organized swimming it is responsible for all rules, administrations, procedures, and policies followed by each club.  It divides the nation geographically into Local Swim Committees (LSC) similar to leagues.  The Peak Waves team is affiliated with the Montana LSC that includes all the teams in the state of Montana.

USA Swimming as a major advocate for pool safety, is also the organization that requires each swimmer of every team, regardless of competitive or fitness status, to be USA Swimming Registered. Every swimmer and coach must be registered in order for the team to be covered under the USA Swimming Insurance Policy. Any team breaking this rule could be liable to fines administered by the organization. This is why each team requires every member (swimmers and coaches alike) to be USA registered.

Swim Meets

As a member of the Peak Waves Swim Team, swimmers are encouraged, but not required, to attend meets throughout the year.  We realize that not all families are in a position to travel outside of Great Falls to attend away meets.

Because of this, we put on a few in-house Peak Meets each season where all team members (Mini-Waves & Special Olympics Swimmers included) have the opportunity to compete against their peers in a fun and crazy-themed fashion.  This is an exciting time for swimmers as well as usually highly entertaining for the parents to view their kids in action! We try to mix these with both serious events and fun events. The parents are always encouraged to participate with timing, cheering, photographing, or even sometimes swimming!

If you are interested in doing meets outside of the Peak Meets, we recommend that you talk with the coaching staff, as well as read our Swim Meet Survival Guide which you can find under the Meet Info tab. The coaches are always happy to discuss events a swimmer would be best suited to swim at any meet they are interested in.
