The Unstoppable Peak Waves Three
The Peak Waves Swim Team will be sending 3 of their fabulous swimmers to Gresham, Oregon on January 12th to compete against the rest of the region in a national hosted meet. In order to qualify “Speedy Gonzales” Joseph Guter and “Can’t Get Enough Butterfly” Olivia Bauman, both 11 years old, had to swim the 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, and 200 IM. They were then ranked nation-wide amongst their age group and assigned points based on their times nationally compared. Once they accrued 1500 points through USA Swimming’s IMX Program, they were qualified to compete at the Northwest IM Xtreme Games! Also swimming at the games to strut her stuff in the 13-14 age group is “I Can Swim Everything (even though I won’t admit it) Tasha McKelvey. In order for her to qualify she also had to accrue 1500 Points through the USA Swimming’s IMX Program, but her events she had to swim were the 500 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 200 IM, and 400 IM.
This is going to be one incredible experience for these incredible young athletes! I’ll update you as to their results once we get back in January! Wish them a Great Big Good Luck if you see them!!!
