Recertification Requirements for 2022-2023 Membership

Confirmation of completion of recertification requirements can be verified on OTS.

1. Complete the online USAS Non-athlete registration. You must obtain a registration link from the swim club you represent.
   $71 - individual 
   You must pay for your membership at the time of registration

2. Concussion Protocol Course
   Courses from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), as well as individual states’ required courses will satisfy the USA Swimming requirement. (For example, if a coach lives/coaches in a state with a concussion education requirement, he/she must only complete this requirement and will not need to complete an additional course). Many high school coaches will have already completed the NFHS training.

3. USAS Athlete Protection Training (APT) in the month it is expiring 
   You can access all US Center for Safe Sport APT courses from your NEW USAS Dashboard: EDUCATION -- Course Catalog -- ALL COURSES

4. USAS Background Check (BGC) in the month it is expiring
   You can access the link to initiate a screening renewal from your NEW USAS Dashboard: EDUCATION -- Course Catalog -- ALL COURSES

5. Take the USAS officials test. 

6. Work required minimum number of sessions: 

• ​​Timing Judge - 4 sessions

• Admin Official - 6 sessions at Timing Judge with at least 2 sessions at Admin Official

• S&T - 4 sessions

• Starter - 4 sessions at Starter

• Deck Referee - 6 sessions at Starter or higher, with at least 3 sessions at Deck Referee level

• Admin Referee - 6 sessions at Referee, with at least 2 sessions at Admin Referee level
