Fantastic First Meet

Tammy Tollefson Meixner

Well done, swimmers!  What a fun first meet! All of the coaches were impressed with the teamwork and performance of our swimmers. Our new swimmers stepped right up to learn the basics of a swim meet which was particularly impressive given the pool was closed for a week. We had only one missed event, a probable record for a first meet with so many new swimmers. Our returning swimmers had far more best times than we would think possible at this time. Best of all, on deck we see so many positive interactions between teammates-older and younger, experienced and brand new, and lanemates.

Thank you, parents, for getting your kids to the pool on time and cheering on the team. We  ask that the kids check in with us before changing and leaving. We want to be sure that no one leaves before their relays are completed, and sometimes we need a relay substitute. Plus, we want to check in with your swimmers one more time before they leave. Whenever possible, stick around until the end to cheer on our team.

We have at least 6 teams sending athletes to our home meet this month. We aim to continue our tradition of being an incredibly welcoming host team. Please look out for all swimmers and guests- we want them to keep coming back:). We'll ask our timers to check to see who is waiting to be sure every swimmer steps up in time for their events. Please be sure that you have signed up for a volunteer position.

Also, our home  meet will require many counters for the 500 and 1000 so please allow your experienced swimmer to help in this way.

See you soon- Go DFAC!
