HOME MEET VOLUNTEER ROLES
 

  • Announcer
    • On pool deck.  Announce swimmers/event/general announcements
       
  • Awards/Volunteer Check In
    • Help with volunteer check in at beginning of shift
    • Place labels on appropriate ribbons and/or medals. 
    • Hand out award to swimmers/club.
    • NOTE: You are able to step away to watch your swimmers events
       
  • Concessions
    • Sell food items at concession stand. 
    • NOTE: You are able to step away to watch your swimmers events.
       
  • Heat Winner Awards
    • On pool deck.  Give ‘prize’ to the first place swimmer of each heat after heat completion
       
  • Meet Director Assistant
    • On pool deck.  Work with meet director averaging times, organizing timer & DQ slips
       
  • Colorado Timing System
    • On pool deck.  Monitor the Colorado timing system. 
    • NOTE: Experience Strongly Preferred
       
  • Meet Marshall
    • On pool deck.  Maintains order in the swimming venue. 
    • 2nd position on mezzanine for larger meets/if enough volunteers.  Maintains order in venue on 2nd floor.
       
  • Runner
    • On Pool Deck.  Collect slips from the timers after each event to give to the Meet Director Assistant
       
  • Set Up/Tear Down-1/2 position
    • Help set up for the meet the evening prior OR
    • Help tear down after the meet
    • NOTE: These are ‘half’ positions so to fill volunteer requirement you could do both set up/tear down or fill two positions (ie both parents sign up for set up)
       
  • Staging
    • On Pool Deck.  Line up age 8 & under swimmers in their heats and lanes for their events. 
    • Lead them to the appropriate starting blocks before each of their events. 
    • NOTE: Previous Experience Preferred
       
  • Timers
    • On Pool Deck. Time events.  Each lane will have two timers. New timers will be partnered up with experienced timers.
    • Training is given at start of meet
       
  • Timer (Head Timer)
    • On Pool Deck.  Ensure the assignment of Lane Timers to lanes and the designation of one timer on each lane to be the Head Lane Timer.
    • On the starting signal, start a watch(es) on every race. The time of this watch shall be used if a Lane Timer’s watch fails.
