Purple

Typical age range: 6-10 years old

Training Focus

  • Learn and improve all 4 strokes
  • Learn and improve starts and turns
  • Introduction to practice and meet etiquette

Swimmer Requirements

  • Swim 1 length of the pool (25 yards) without stopping 
  • Comfortable with face in water
  • Able to float on back

Practice Attendance

  • Recommended 2-3x per week

Meet Attendance

  • Home meets required
  • Age-appropriate away meets encouraged

 

Silver

Typical age range: 8-12 years old

Training Focus

  • Learn and Improve all 4 strokes to competition-legal standards
  • Learn and improve starts and turns to competition-legal standards
  • Introduction to aerobic training and set work

Swimmer Requirements

  • Swim 2 lengths of the pool (50 yards) without stopping
  • Comfortable with face in water and rhythmic breathing
  • Comfortable diving from the starting blocks
  • Competition legal in at least 3 strokes

Practice Attendance

  • Recommended
    • ​2-3x per week in Fall/Winter/Spring
    • 3-4x per week in Summer

Meet Attendance

  • Home meets required
  • Age-appropriate away meets encouraged

 

Gold

Typical age range: 9-13 years old

Training Focus

  • Improve all 4 strokes and starts
  • Learn advanced turns and relay exchanges
  • Moderate aerobic training
  • Introduction to training for specific events
  • Introduction to dryland training

Swimmer Requirements

  • Swim 50 yards of each stroke legally
  • Competition-legal dive from the blocks
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
  • Maturity to stay focused for longer practices
  • At or above 8 & Under State qualifying standards preferred

Practice Attendance

  • Recommended 3-4x per week

Meet Attendance

  • Home meets required
  • Multiple away meets per session encouraged
  • Regional Championships meet encouraged

 

Senior Platinum

Typical age range: 14 years old +

Training Focus

  • Master all 4 strokes and starts
  • Master advanced turns and relay exchanges
  • Moderate to high level aerobic training
  • Specialization and race strategy
  • Introduction to distance events and Open Water
  • Advanced dryland training
  • Occasional overlap with other Senior groups

Swimmer Requirements

  • Entering or currently in high school
  • All of Gold’s requirements
  • Willing to train for competitive swimming with the goal of self-improvement and/or achieving 11-12 state qualifying times

Practice Attendance

  • Recommended
    • 3-5x per week in Fall/Winter/Spring
    • 4-6x per week in Summer

Meet Attendance

  • Home meets required
  • Multiple away meets per session encouraged
  • Regional Championships meet encouraged
  • Championship qualifiers strongly recommended to compete at championship meets

 

Senior 2

Typical age range: 10-14 years old

Training Focus

  • Master all 4 strokes and starts

  • Specialization and race strategy
  • Introduction to distance events and Open Water
  • Advanced dryland training
  • Occasional overlap with other Senior groups

  • All of Gold’s requirements
  • At or above 10 & Under State qualifying standards
  • Willing to train for competitive swimming with the goal of self-improvement and/or achieving 11-12 state qualifying times

    • 4-6x per week in Summer

  • Specialization and race strategy
  • Introduction to distance events and Open Water
  • Advanced dryland training
  • Occasional overlap with other Senior groups

Swimmer Requirements

  • All of Gold’s requirements
  • At or above 11-12 State qualifying standards
  • Willing to train for competitive swimming with the goal of achieving 13-14 state qualifying times and beyond

Practice Attendance

  • Recommended
    • 4-5x per week in Fall/Winter/Spring
    • 6-7x per week in Summer

Meet Attendance

  • Home meets required
  • Recommend multiple meets per month
  • Regional Championships meet strongly recommended
  • Championship qualifiers strongly recommended to compete at championship meets

 

 

Senior Cross-train

  • Option for Senior program athletes training in another sport that would prevent them from swimming full-time
  • Up to 3x practices per week (not days)
  • Contact head coach for approval prior to registering for this option
