Coaches and Directors
I started my my fourteen-year swimming career here at DFAC at
the age of 6. I specialized in open water, distance events,
and the individual medleys. In 2011, I was selected as the
Wisconsin Senior Male Swimmer of the Year after winning multiple
state championships and setting the 13-14 400 IM state record. I
swam for DeForest High School, where I was also a state
champion and set multiple team records. After high school, I
competed for Miami University's NCAA Division I swimming and
diving team and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in
computer science
I am excited to to lead the club that helped me achieve my swimming
goals, and to help pass on the skills and knowledge I gained
throughout my career to the next generation of DFAC
swimmers.
I have been a coach with DFAC since 2003, where I have been fortunate to coach at every age and group level. Currently, I am the Lead Coach of the AG Gold group. I was born in Upper Michigan, (yup, I am a Yooper), and have always been involved with swimming, starting as a summer youth camp waterfront director, swimming instructor and lifeguard. I swam club, high school and one year of college. After graduating from the University of Dubuque, I taught fifth grade in Clinton, Iowa. We moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota, and I obtained my graduate degree from Minnesota State University, where I worked as a clinical psychologist and a technical college instructor before moving to the Deforest-Windsor area.
You have probably seen my husband, Rick, on deck officiating at meets. He has been active on the DFAC Board and LSC Board and Official’s Committee. We have one son, Nicholas. He began swimming at age six with DFAC, and he signed to swim on scholarship at Miami University. I love to read and enjoy all water sports, including swimming, boating and scuba diving with my family.
Hello DFAC! I am honored to start coaching for such an amazing organization. I started swimming competitively at the age of ten for the Baraboo Riptides, and never looked back. I have been involved in aquatics for over twenty years. Lifeguarding, instructing, and teaching, but my real passion is in coaching. I have been the head coach of the Portage Piranhas swim team for the past six years. Last year we broke forty-nine pool records, and we competed in our first ever conference where we won eighteen gold medals. I was also the 2022 all area high school swim coach of the year. I take pride in helping to not only raise the next generation of great swimmers but ensuring that they are also good people. I cannot wait to meet the kids! Thank you for this opportunity.

I swam for DFAC for 9 years as well as Deforest for all four years of high school. I was a lifeguard at the old High School Pool for 6 years, where I taught swim lessons (for many current DFAC swimmers) and was a supervisor my final year there.
