DFAC HAPPENINGS 01/06/23

- WELCOME NEW COACHES!!!!!!!!
- The club is VERY excited to have THREE new coaches starting next week including two former DFAC swimmers! Please see bios/info below.
- Chris Eckman
- I am excited to join The DFAC coaching staff. I am trained in helping others become the best version of themselves; mentally, emotionally and physically. I hold a BA in Psychology (University of South Carolina) and 5th Year Teaching Credentials (St Olaf College)
I have also journeyed as a passionate lover of water. Floundering with the basic progressions of swimming and meeting success with a Divison 1 scholarship and qualifying for Nationals and NCAA meets, as well as, being Captain of the University of South Carolina Swim Team.
I have taught and coached swimming throughout my entire life. As an Aquatic Director, leading lessons, lifeguards and swim teams. Coaching Triathlon Training Groups and Military Swim Teams, as well as coaching USA Teams. Never tiring of the peace and success it brings to so many. Being part of a team of swimmers and families as rich as DFAC is exciting.
I am looking forward to winning with the DFAC Team. Thank You All for Your Inviting Welcome.
Chris will begin working with all groups and likely transition to younger age groups

- Nick Potter
- I started swimming competitively at the age of six and spent the majority of my fourteen-year swimming career here at DFAC. The 400 individual medley was my best event, having set the Wisconsin state record for the event in both long and short course. I also specialized in distance events and open water. In 2011, I was selected as the Wisconsin Senior Male Swimmer of the Year. I swam for DeForest High School, where I was a state champion and set multiple team records. After high school, I swam in NCAA Division I for Miami University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science
Over the course of six years, I lifeguarded at the old DeForest High School pool, Madison Area Technical College, and Lake Monona. During that time, I also provided lessons to other competitive swimmersseeking to refine their stroke techniques. I am excited to be a part of the club again, this time as a coach, and pass on the skills and knowledge I gained throughout my career to the next generation of DFAC swimmers.
