Welcome Coach Harrison!
Please join us in welcoming Coach Harrison to DFAC! He will primarily focusing on dryland but may on deck as his schedule permits. Stay tuned for updates on the dryland schedule which will start next week.
Here is note from Coach Harrison:
"Hi DFAC! I’m excited to join the team as the dryland coach. I’ve been involved in swimming for nearly a decade and have over four years of coaching experience, most recently serving as head coach at Magdalena Ecke YMCA. I focus on building athletes’ confidence and strength while prioritizing injury prevention, long-term health, and helping them better understand movement and how their bodies work.
Before moving to Madison, I worked as a senior waterfront lifeguard (beach & lake) — health and safety trainer, and I’ve coached swimmers of all levels. I hold both a bachelor’s and master’s in Kinesiology, I have conducted research on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) rowing, energetic cost and mechanics in swimming, and skin cancer prevention among surfers.
I’m currently a doctoral student studying a variety of topics; cardiovascular disease and sleep disturbances, social connectedness in cancer survivors, and the process of physical activity engagement. When I’m not coaching or doing research, I enjoy weightlifting and hanging out at home with my partner and our small home zoo."
