Sixteen Mighty Marlins combined for 42 top 8 finishes at the Spring Finale in Anacortes this weekend. Jacob Christy and Anna Paul led the way with top 8 finishes in all 6 of Their events. Twenty-two Mighty Marlins earned medals for top 6 overall in the Marlins Madness Meet in Snohomish. In this unique format, the times from all 6 swims are added together, and the swimmer with the best composite time in their age group wins. Aside from the 22 Marlins finishing 2nd through 6th, one swimmer was first overall. Skye Swanson won the girls 10-year old age group, earning a trophy. Mighty Marlins hard work is paying off, as they hit 61 best times at the SRST Champs Qualifier in Snohomish this weekend. Ava Wright and Layne Kopischka led the way. Ava had 9 best times, dropping a total of over 141 seconds (Almost 21/2 minutes). Layne had similar drops with 8 best times totaling over 48 seconds. Two Relays stuffed with Marlins competed at the Washington State 3A Championship Meet in Federal Way last weekend. Marysville Getchell swam both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays. The team of Ryker Lichtenberg, Allen Pringle, Jacob Christy, and Cameron Leary took 18th in the 200 Medley relay and 22nd in the 200 Free relay. At Finals, in the 3A High School District Swim Championships, Marlin swimmers repeatedly dropped tons of time and improved their placing drastically. Allen Pringle led the way for the Marysville Getchell Boys. He took 5th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, and locked up a birth at state in the breaststroke, since the top 4 swimmers in each event qualify for the State Championship, next weekend in Federal Way! Allen Pringle put together a great 200 breaststroke at the Washington Open in Federal Way. Allen’s time was a new Mighty Marlins Swim Club record. He made finals in that event which featured top flight teams from Washington, 6 other states, and teams from Canada as well! Way to go Allen! Way to go Mighty Marlins!
