Hi Everyone, Summer swimming has been a booming success thus far with numerous swimmers participating from across all our programs! Save The Date! Training Camp March 9-19 in Plantation Florida We are excited to announce that we will be going to Plantation, Florida for training camp from March 9-19, 2024! Over the past 20 years GHAC has had over 800 athletes participate in training camps and it is a staple in our training calendar! The camp is open to all swimmers in the organization! Wow!! GHAC had an entire weekend of fast swimming at the 2023 Ontario Swimming Championships hosted July 6-9 at the Toronto Pan Am sports center! GHAC was represented by our 5 Paralympic stream swimmers Antonio, Charlie, Melinda, Nicholas and Sumbul. There were 69 clubs in attendance and our small 5-swimmer team earned 311.50 points enough to earn a 20th-place finish. We even finished with 7 medals: 4 Silver and 3 Bronze! GHAC Olympic Stream athletes make waves at ManSask in Winnipeg! Lead by veteran leaders Emerson, Matt, Owen, and Xander 20 Olympic stream swimmers ranging in ages from 10-18 flew to Winnipeg for the 4-day meet. On April 1-2 GHAC hosted our second Color Meet. We divided our swimmers into 4 teams – Blue, Pink, Purple and Blue. It was great to see the team bonding between the different age groups. Hopefully new friendships have formed, and team spirit has grown. But most importantly, we hope that our younger swimmers had fun, and are excited to race again. They are a great opportunity for all swimmers to develop and enhance their skills! These skill/stroke clinics are led by GHAC & McMaster Marauders Head Coach, Grey Fairley. On December 4-6, GHAC team members excitedly left for Windsor to participate in the Border City Swim Meet. For many of our swimmers, this is one of their favorite competitions because the pool is fast and the meet is fun. The weekend started with some very fast swims (approx. 90% best times on day 1), and GHAC was well represented in the finals. The cheering was loud, from on the pool deck and up in the gallery. On Nov 19 GHAC hosted our first Color meet. We divided our swimmers into 4 teams – Blue, Pink, Purple and Blue. The goal of the meet was to foster team bonding by having the senior swimmers team up with our up and coming swimmers; to encourage them, and show them how much fun swim meets are. BRANTFORD NOVEMBER MEET Novice Meet What a great way to start our Novice competition season. The Brantford Junior Series Meet on Nov 5 was geared to introduce new swimmers to swim meets. We had 33 swimmers, ranging from 6 to 14 years old. The day started with a lot of nervous kids and a few tears but ended with a lot of smiles and “Best Time” ribbons.
