         GTSA put on another strong performance at the Friday Night at the Races hosted by St. Petersburg Aquatics. As a team Greater Tampa accumulated 63 new personal best times, which is an outstanding accomplishment in a one day competition. There were also 3 different event champions Tyler Heath, Alex Hetland, and Matthew Kramer. It was an exciting night to be a member of GTSA and watch all the hard work pay off with a large number of best times. Greater Tampa gets back in action October 30th at the second Friday Night...

                  At the 13th Annual Sweet September Meet, hosted by TBAY, Greater Tampa Swimming Association brought home the team championship (excluding host team). With 20 different team members scoring points in individual races it was the definitely a team win. There were individual victories from Gabby Donahue, Carter Flynn, Reagan Flynn, and Tyler Heath. As well as five people  who brought home trophies for top 3 individual high points including Reagan Flynn, Tyler Heath, Carter Flynn, Blaise Genne, and Giakomo Rosso. GTSA amassed 384.5 points over the 3 day meet outlasting the next place...

Florida Swimming completed a dominating performance at the 2009 Southern Zone Age Group Championships amassing 788 points over the 5 day competition.  The closest competition came from Southeastern Swimming (624pts), North Carolina Swimming (505pts), and Georgia Swimming (469pts).  Tyler definitely did his part in helping Florida Swimming earn their 3rd consecutive championship.  He made 2 individual finals including the 200 free finishing in 6th place with a time of 2:10.51, and the 400 free finishing in 6th place with a time of 4:33.61, both personal bests.  Tyler also competed on...

  DAY 1 Prelims                 JO’s kicked off Thursday morning with the 100 Freestyles for all ages. GTSA had 3 new personal bests including Allie Donahue, Tyler Heath, Blaise Genne, with Tyler qualifying in 2 nd place going into the final. The 100 freestyle was followed by the sprint breaststrokes for all ages. Both Allie and Emma Donahue went new personal bests while qualifying 11 th and 6 th respectively for the finals. In the final events for the day Allie Donahue capped off a successful morning with a personal best in the 100...

Based on FINA’s ruling Monday, USA Swimming will adopt as legal in general competition, all suits included on the revised FINA-approved list. The list published Monday includes an additional 198 suits, which have been added to the original 202 that were approved.   

       At the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Awards Reception on Thursday June 18th Greater Tampa Swimming Association was awarded 2nd place in the team fundraising category for raising over $3000. GTSA’s Emma Donahue won the Golden Sneaker Award for raising more than $1000 in the category of individual fundraisers.   The Donahue family and GTSA would like to thank everyone on the team who contributed to JDRF and also participated in the Walk to Cure Diabetes.  It was a wonderful day full of team camaraderie.     

  Tyler Heath capped off an impressive weekend at the CVST Tampa Bay Swim Classic by winning the high point award amassing 60 points.  He touched the wall first in 6 of his 7 events.  Tyler’s points as well as plenty of help from the rest of the team led Greater Tampa Swimming Association to a 5th place finish with a total of 188 points.  Other GTSA swimmers to finish events in the top 8 included, Ana Delong, Elsa Delong, Alexandria Donahue, Emma Donahue, TJ Donahue, Rob Felton, Carter Flynn,...
