One more down, one spot to go. The Waves took another big step up at the Inland Empire Short Course Championships, finishing second for the first time in team history this past weekend.  The feat was accomplished by team record performances in nearly every age group. WAVES WIN 4th CONSECUTIVE 14&U CHAMPS TITLE! Going in to a swim meet with 98 swimmers can make a coach pretty confident.  When you find out that your team makes up 30% of all the swimmers in a meet, you begin to dream big.  What followed was beyond anyone's wildest expectations. The Waves absolutely dominated the 2012 IES 14&U Championships Meet this past weekend, scoring 1509.5 points, more than three times the number of points as the second place team (475.5).  More impressively, nearly every swimmer on the team scored...

Madi Lydig and I flew over to Missouri for one of the meets that is in the Grand Prix series.  The Grand Prix meets are designed for the professional swimmers to race, tune up, and prepare for US nationals or Olympic Trials.  Madi swam 4 races, and the results were awesome! Madi dropped over 1 second in the 100 back setting new 15-18 and Open records.  She moved up from 100+ place to 47th. Wow, what a meet.  The Last minute miles was a showcase of toughness, great racing, and brave kids trying some of swimming’s hardest races out (many for the first time.)  Each of the 25 kids that raced was allowed to chose one event; either the 500, 1000, 1650, or the 400 IM.  From those 25 races, came an astounding number of amazing results:   Distance by the numbers: 24 out of 25 swims was a season best! The Waves took 24 swimmers over to Ellensburg to compete in the regional winter invitational.  From those 24 kids, we got 67 best times, 9 team records, 9 new Age Group Sectional times, 1 new Western Zone time, and a whole host of Inland Empire Championship times.  It was a great tune up for the championship meets coming next month.  We are very excited to see what we can do in the next month!   Just a brief explanation of those standards: the Age Group Sectional times are the equivalent...
