As the Championship Meets and the 2012 Olympics wind down, we all celebrate the achievements of the athletes at these events. Three NE-RES records were broken at the USA Olympic Trials meet in Omaha: Kaitlin Harty, GMSC, broke Elizabeth Beisel's 13-14 100 Meter Backstroke record with a time of 1:01.99. This time qualified her for the semi-finals Elizabeth Beisel, ABF, set two NE-RES Open records in the 400 Meter Free (4:07.29), and the 400 Meter IM (4:31.74). YNS SWIMMER TO COMPETE IN 2012 PARALYMPIC GAMES Victoria Arlen, 17, of the YMCA of the North Shore Sharks swim team has officially earned a place on Team USA at the 2012 London Paralympic Games after competing at the Paralympic trials in Bismarck, North Dakota. Arlen placed first in the 400-meter freestyle, first in the 100-meter breaststroke, first in the 50-meter freestyle and first in the 100-meter freestyle. At the MBM meet, at Harvard Univiersity, 6/22/12: Christian Schoen, from Shawmut Aquatic Club (SAC) broke the NE and NE-RES record in the 11-12 200 Meter Butterfly with a time of 2:21.84. This time breaks the NE record of Ryan Harty (GMSC) set in 2009, and the RES record of James Allen (GMSC) in 2009. Congratulations Christian!

In the quest for Olympic Trial cuts, several swimmers broke records at the NSSC meet at MIT this past weekend. The 100 LCM Backstroke was a popular event with three swimmers breaking the NE record. Kyra Sarazen from EST (1:04.22) broke the 15-18 and Open record and Meghan Leddy, HARV (1:04.18) broke the Open record, but Maggie Chory from BGSC set the NE 15-18 and OPEN record with a time of 1:04.17!
