Congratulations to the following swimmers: Aaron Zhu, from New Wave Swim Club (NWSC), broke the 1994 boy’s 50 yard Breaststroke NE and RES record with a time of 37.69! JANUARY SWIMMER OF THE MONTH Connor Green, a member of the Bluefish Swim Club, has been swimming competitively for 9 years and counts the backstroke and I.M. events among his most favorite, while the 50 free remains his least favorite event. Connor Green recently took down Olympian, Erik Vendt’s, record in the 13-14 400 IM, set in 1995, by posting a 4:42.71. This time beat Erik's by over 2 seconds! To everyone in the New England Swimming community: We, Belmont Aquatics Team ( BAT ) have a swimmer, Anthony Brescia-Connell (age 17), who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December. Since that time, he has been in the hospital and battling to recover. He is receiving radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Last week he went from Children's to the Spaulding Rehab center and was receiving, in addition to the radiation and chemo, some intense PT. Congratulations to the New England swimmers who have qualified for USA Swimming Zone Select Camps! USA Swimming selects 56 athletes from each zone across the country based on their performance this past summer in either an IMX score an individual event. 15 athletes of each sex are selected based on 2010 Long Course Meters (LCM) IMX point scores according to the following: Eight girls age 12 and eight boys age 13, Seven girls age 13 and seven boys age 14. SHAWN NEE from Shawmut Aquatic Club broke the NE and the NE-RES 13/14 Boy's 100 yard Backstroke record at the Regional meet, during a time trial, on February 13th. His time of 52.28 broke the previous record set by Ryan Harty by .47 seconds! Congratulations Shawn!
