Junior 2, Junior 3, Senior Elite, National

Ian Manske is part of the physical therapy team at Odom Health & Wellness. One of his responsibilities is also working as a personal trainer for Aquajets. His journey into these fields began with his fascination with how the human body works and learning how to apply this knowledge to help others recover from injury. He enjoys applying his experience in rehabilitative care to provide an injury-prevention approach to ensure proper mechanics and work towards performance goals.

Ian has been part of athletics since a young age, including cross country, basketball, soccer, and track. The one common thread in all these sports is running and eventually, this became his focus at the collegiate level, competing in both cross country and track. Ian enjoys putting in the work mile after mile to test his physical and mental limits. He is motivated to help others not only reach their full potential in their sport but also maintain the enjoyment they get from it.

BRIAN KIRKVOLD
Bluejets, Bluelightning, Junior 1

Coach Brian began coaching Dryland for the Aquajets Blue groups and recently made the leap “across the hall” to coach the Competitive Prep and Blue groups in the pool as well!

Competitive swimming has always played a big role in Coach Brian’s life. He says he’s been fortunate to have had some fantastic coaches throughout his swimming career…including at Foxjets and on the collegiate level at Kenyon College. Brian explains that his coaches, and the sport of swimming itself, taught him “…more than just how to swim fast in the pool, I learned how to be a good person. I hope to pass that along to the kids that I coach at Aquajets” — including his two amazing daughters on the team!

In addition to his various coaching duties, swimming remains a big part of Coach Brian’s life. Each year, he tackles an open-water swim across Lake Minnetonka, as well as the Lake Superior “Point to La Pointe” — the ambitious 2.1-mile event from Bayfield to Madeline Island in Wisconsin.

What’s next? “Who knows,” he says. “Maybe I'll swim The Channel one day!”
