Winter Greeting Team! December 2nd-4th, CDST attended the 2022 Winter Age Group Championships in Santa Clara. Swimmers 14 & Under, who qualified for Short-Course Individual Events, & Relays performed their best racing & showed how hard they’ve been working in practices. On Friday, CDST began the WAG Championship Meet with some great Individual Events & for the first time, participated in the Mixed (Girls & Boys) 200 Medley & Freestyle Relays. Hello CDST Families, The last three-months have been an excellent start to the 2022-2023 Swim Season. For CDST, September, October, & November showed our Team’s tremendous ability to grow, organize, & prepare for the year ahead. In September, all groups spent time focusing on stroke technique, & practice endurance. We also had many new parent groups that were created to help the team run more efficiently. On November 19th and 20th, CDST attended the 14 & Under Last Chance JO Swim Meet, hosted by CROW in San Ramon. Swimmers had their last chance to make JO time standards at this Meet. Many swimmers made best times, & made the cut to qualify for the 14 & Under Winter Championship, previously known as Winter Junior Olympics. RHAC C/B/BB swim meet was a great opportunity to see where we need to work harder to improve individually, as a group, and as a team. CDST had a great number of swimmers who signed up for this meet, and many swimmers who were experiencing their first USA Swim Meet. There were also many DQ slips received by Coaches from the Officials this weekend. Elite Group swimmers did well at the Terrapins Senior II T&F Meet last weekend at Concord. Many personal best was set at the meet, and all swimmers improved compared to their previous performance in October. After a rough season start and mediocre meet performance in September and October, Elite Group swimmers worked extra hard at practice last month. CDST attended the first swim meet of the season in Orinda last weekend with 70 plus swimmers. It was a great opportunity for swimmers to race against some fast Teams, while demonstrating good sportsmanship and Team Spirt. CDST competed in the Pacific Swimming 14 & Under LCM Junior Olympics in Hollister, Ca on 7/8-7/10/2022. We had 7 athletes who participated in 24 events and 12 relay races. I am happy CDST swimmers showcased their enthusiasm, displayed exceptional focus, and arrived prepared to preform. CDST had our first own Senior National National Qualifier! Congratulations to Edward Huang; he swam 56.47 in the 100m Backstroke at SCSC George Haines International Swim Meet to qualify for the upcoming 2022 Summer Senior National Championships in Irving, CA. He placed 3rd in this *well-known Senior/International level meet. He also got Winter Junior National Cut in his 50m Freestyle(24.10) and 200m Backstroke(2:07.84).
