So many Spring meets, so many great results: SRST Champs Qualifier Meet 2/20-2/23 @ Snohomish Aquatic Center There are many ways to have success at a meet, we quantify placing (you don’t have much control over who you are racing against) but there are other ways to measure success: best time swims (improving skill levels), executing proper technique (trying a turn, underwater kicking or diving from the blocks), race prep (being at your races on time & warmed up ready to race), feeling easy speed at the beginning of your...
Monthly Update February: Coaches corner: Thank goodness January has come to a close and we are that much closer to SPRING! We had a really nice training block in January and the times at the Bluefin Invite were indicative of that work. We closed out our last Bluefin on a high note and are looking forward to the next chapter until construction concludes. We are ready to go full steam into spring training, spring meets & HS Boys State. Good luck gentlemen! We are looking forward to breaking down some...
8th PLACE TROPHY “Nothing Will Work Unless You Do” - Maya Angelou Coach Monique's Message: Quote for the year and it is truly paying off. We are super proud of the work that has been done thus far and are looking forward to a successful conclusion to the short course season in March. Hard work pays off, period. We are embarking on new territory during our construction process. This is NOT going to be hard, just different. Everyone else in the swimming world that doesn’t live on an island has...
Coaches notes: Championship season is upon us. It’s time to RACE! We want to end 2024 with fast swims. The hay is in the barn and our swimmer’s should be able to step up and feel confident for their races. Meet Highlights: Fall Age Group Invitational @ Mary Wayte Pool on Mercer Island. After the Bomb Cyclone that passed through Western Washington days before the meet, causing massive power outages across the area. We were very thankful that the meet would still take place, but the challenges seemed to continue....
Coaches Corner: “ Nothing works unless you do.” - Maya Angelou This quote is on every swimmer’s Team Shirt this year. (Thank you BISC Boosters) It is a reminder that hard work is the key to achieving success. We ask our swimmers to work hard in practice / school / in anything they do, so they can create opportunities for themselves and our team. We don’t wish for things to happen, we put in the work to make them happen. Attendance is critical. “Showing up” is key. This is where/when...
It was a beautiful weekend in an amazing facility. Our BISC athletes did an amazing job this weekend (as did the cheering section in the stands). We had 60 athletes in attendance and every single one of them swam at least 2 best times and many swam more than that. This is a great place to be in early October. Lots of new Champs and Sr Champs times were established. We have our first lad under 5:00 in the 500 with Ian Letson posting a 4:58.02 and a massive 27.40...
We recently took 9 athletes down to Coronado for Western Zone Open Water Championships. Not only was it all of their firsts in Open Water Racing, it was also in the Ocean. The even had over 400 athletes participating in a 1.25K, 2.5K or 5K race. These races took anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour to complete......IN THE OCEAN. 1.25K - 101 athletes in this race, Surya Jain 30th overall and placed 7th in 11/12 boys. 2.5K - This race had 106 athletes. Tej Pal 44th overall and...
What a way to end the season………great racing, fast swims, best times, new cuts and now the Olympics!!!! I hope everyone is getting a chance to watch the greatest in our sport and learn some things along the way. It has 100% distracted me from finishing this re-cap. Congratulations BISC Swimmers and Families on a very successful season. We wrapped up our LC season with Senior & Age Group Champs over the course of the last two weeks. These meets were long (exceptionally so), and tested every bit of our...
BISC finished 4th out of 12 teams at Apple Capital. Rylee DuPont led all BISC swimmers in point scoring, earning 92 points over 13 events. BISC had several event Champions: Wyatt Livingston (100m BRST, 200 BRST, where he also made his first Sectional Cut:) Rob Nakhuda (100m BK, 50 FR) Ian Letson (400 IM), Wyatt Majors (50m BRST), Aria Michael (200...
Hi Team Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this amazing weather as of late. We had a successful Sectionals meet this past weekend. 4 Days in Federal Way with 20 out of 27 swims being best times. I am proud of this group of kids who went into a season ending meet having to swim long course (due to its proximity to Olympic Trials), and with Sota and Ian having just established their Sectional cuts recently and then re-establishing them LC. It was really a start to LC season...
