Coach Rob
Owner | Head Coach
Coach Rob is the Head Coach for Metro Surge Aquatic Club and currently serves as the Aquatics Director at Lakewood Country Club. He has led as site head coach for NCAP North and multiple summer league teams in Montgomery County (MCSL and CCSDA). Rob has trained MCSL champions, PVS Senior and JO champions, and nationally ranked athletes.
He has coached swimmers to Winter Nationals, Junior Nationals, NCSA Juniors, Sectionals, and Zones. Before moving to Montgomery County in 1995, Rob served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a reconnaissance Marine and Army Ranger during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Rob is deeply passionate about coaching and believes a strong technical foundation is the key to a swimmer's long-term success.
Coach Kristen
Owner | Coach
Coach Kristen joined NCAP–North in 2009 and became co-owner of the site in 2019. After six successful years, she and Coach Rob launched Metro Surge Aquatic Club in 2025. Kristen has coached every level of the program, most recently leading the Silver Group to top-level meets including Winter Nationals, Junior Nationals, NCSA Juniors, Futures, Sectionals, and Zones.
Her athletes have achieved USA Top 10 rankings, PVS Top 16, club and PVS records, and even broken National Age Group relay records. Kristen is committed to a culture of excellence, accountability, and long-term growth.
Coach Noah
Bronze 1 | High School Prep
Noah began swimming at age 7 with RMSC and continued with NCAP–North (now METRO), where he was coached by Rob to Junior Nationals in breaststroke. He was runner-up in the 100y breast at the Maryland AAA State Championship and holds multiple team and league records.
He has coached with Woodcliffe Wahoos (MCSL) since 2017 and began coaching for Metro Surge in 2021. Noah’s goal is to share his technical knowledge and mental approach with the next generation of swimmers.
Coach Erin
Bronze 2 | Bronze 3 | Jr. Development
Coach Erin joined Metro Surge in 2020 and has been involved in competitive swimming since age six. She swam with teams in PVS and GGSL, competed for her high school team, and currently swims with Germantown Masters.
Erin specializes in teaching young swimmers proper stroke technique and fundamentals as they begin their competitive journey. She is pursuing a degree in Public Health and is proud to grow with the Metro Surge family.
Coach Kerry
Bronze 3 | Jr. Development
Kerry Ellett has dedicated more than fifty years to coaching and teaching the sport of swimming. Over the course of his career, he has coached across multiple levels and organizations, including the Montgomery County Swim League (Garrett Park, Tilden Woods), the Country Club Swimming and Diving Association (Kenwood, Lakewood, Congressional), Montgomery County Public Schools (Woodward High School), and USA Swimming (Curl-Burke).
Kerry’s athletes have achieved at the highest levels, from MCSL County Record Breakers and Long Course Champions to High School and NCAA All-Americans, Age Group National Champions, and Olympic Trials Qualifiers.
A lifetime member of the American Swimming Coaches Association, Kerry has twice been recognized as Age Group Coach of the Year and is honored as a coach member of the MCSL Hall of Fame.
Beyond the pool deck, he has contributed significantly to the broader swimming community. Kerry has chaired multiple USA Swimming National Committees including Age Group Planning, Club Development, Open Water Domestic, and Camps. Kerry has served four years on the USA Swimming National Board of Directors and also been elected twice as Eastern Zone Coach Director
