    NAME

    DESCRIPTION

Parent/Infant/Toddler Ages: 6 months-3 years

· Must be able to hold head up

· Parent must attend and be in the water with child

Introduction to the water focusing on the parent and child as one learning unit. Course objectives: observation and practice of safe and effective use of floatation devices; supported movement in the water; positive exposure to water adjustment activities; and, introduction to water safety skills. Class provides information and techniques for parents to orient their children to the water and provides parents and children with a fun recreational activity to do together. Class not designed to teach children to become accomplished swimmers, or even to survive in the water on their own. 

Preschool Ages: 3-5

· Child must be at least 3 years old at first class

Learn a comfort level in and around the water, as well as a readiness for learning to swim.  Course Objectives: positive exposure to water adjustment skills; introduction to elementary propulsion in the water, and introduction to basic water safety skills.

Advanced Preschool Ages 3-5

· Child must enter and go under water easily

· Swim 5 yards unassisted

· Jump to instructor from deck

· Comfortable on his/her back

Learn freestyle with rhythmic breathing; combined stroke on back and deep water adjustment. Course Objectives: development of freestyle; increase endurance and strength; development of combined stroke on back; and, adjustment to deep water.

New Beginner Ages: 5 and up

· Designed for children with limited water experience or those who have passsed the Clowhfish class.

Learn water safety and water adjustment. Course objectives: Positive exposure to adjustment skills; and development of basic swimming skills including floating, gliding, kicking, freestyle, and backstroke.

Advanced Beginner Ages: 6-14

· Must be comfortable going under water

· Able to swim 10-15 yards unassisted

· Able to float and propel self on back

Learn backstroke, rotary rhythmic breathing and refinement/strengthen freestyle. Course Objectives: further development of freestyle swimming in deep water and other deep water skills; diving; and safety skills.

Advanced Intermediate Ages 6-14

· Able to swim freestyle 25 yards unassisted with basic knowledge of side breathing

· Able to swim 15 yards of back crawl or elementary backstroke

· Dives or jumps in

Learn increased coordination and endurance. Course Objectives: further development of deep-water skills; increased endurance and refinement of freestyle and back stroke; introduction to breaststroke and sidestroke; and safety skills.

Stroke Development/Improvement Ages 6-14

· Able to swim 50 yards freestyle with side breathing

· Able to swim 25 yards back stroke

·Knowledge/ability to swim basic breaststroke for 15 yards

·Knowledge of butterfly kick

 

· Able to dive from the side of the pool

Learn stroke technique with diving and turns; further develop endurance.  Course Objectives: continued development of elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke; perform freestyle, backstroke, and elementary backstroke with increased distances; diving from diving boards; open turns; and safety skills.

Stroke Refinement/Endurance Ages 6-14

· Able to swim 100 yards freestyle with side breathing

· Able to swim 50 yards back stroke

·Able to swim breaststroke for 25 yards

·Can demonstrate butterfly kick for 25 yards

· Able to dive from the side of the pool

Learn proficient strokes and fundamental skills for fitness training. Course Objectives: improved endurance and proficiency of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly; introduction to approach stroke, flip turns, racing starts, surface dives, conditioning principles; and safety skills.

Pre-Competitive Ages 6-14

· Able to swim 200 yards continuously

·Able to swim 50 yards backstroke and  breaststroke

·Able to swim 25 yards butterfly

Development of competitive swimming skills. Learn racing techniques of proper starts, turns and finishes to prepare for competitive swimming.  Learn how to read a pace clock and training principles. 

Adaptive Ages 3+(All swim lesson levels)

Designed to provide one on one instruction for children living with physical or mental disabilities.

Life Guard Training Ages 15+ 

Participants will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/ AED. Participants must be 15 years of age or older by the first day of class.

SPLASH Summer Pre-Competitive Team

A fun stepping stone for children who aren't ready for a competitive swim team. Tryout date in March and must be able to swim unassisted as this is not a learn to swim session!  The last day of practice is a mock swim meet! More information can be found on our Splash Information Page
