This course is presented in a Blended Learning format. Lifeguard candidates must complete all online course materials before the first day of the in-water class session. Candidates must attend all days of class. Participants are required to bring a swimsuit and notebook and the required e-textbook or you may purchase a hardcopy textbook from Red Cross to use. Instructions on how to access online material will be sent out to candidates the weeks before in-water training.

All lifeguard candidates must be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course, and they must pass the prerequisite swim test in order to participate. The prerequisite swim test will be completed on the first day of class. A full refund will be offered to students unable to pass the test. Refunds will not be offered to students unable to pass the course.
