COACHES MESSAGE

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE & CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR SWIMMERS WHO REPRESENTED LAC SO WELL THIS SUMMER!

As the 2010-11 swim year starts up, the coaching staff would like to extend their very best wishes to everyone for another exciting, fast, and productive campaign.  These first few weeks are a time to get re-acquainted with your friends and teammates, think about your goals for the year, and swim with your very best technique.  In particular in the last area, we want everyone to focus on doing their very best streamlines and trying to get outside the flags on every single push off the wall.  If you can make good push-offs and streamlines a habit, it will be a HUGE advantage for you in the pursuit of your goals.

There is no need to swim fast right now...we want you all to swim with your very best technique.  We will be doing lots of stroke drills in the first part of the year, and these drills need to be done as close to perfectly as possible.  Just like the push-offs and streamlines, if you can make good technique a habit now, it will play a BIG role in your success later.

The coaches would also like to extend a very special welcome to our 1st year swimmers - we are very happy that you have made the commitment to be an LAC'er, and we look forward to helping you have fun and swim fast in your 1st year.

We are very excited about the roll-out of our "new" website: londonaquaticclub.ca.  It is our hope that everyone will use the site as their primary information source, and if you are unable to find the information you want on the site, you should direct all technical, i.e., swimming-related, matters to the coach of your swimmer(s), and any other questions to a Board member.  Please be patient as we continue to work on website content and format.

Finally, we want to say GOOD LUCK to RICHARD HORTNESS, who will be leaving this Thursday for Delhi, India and the COMMONWEALTH GAMES.  We'll all be cheering you on RICHARD! Belated congratulations also to Megan Estabrooks who was a first time regional qualifier at the Paul Hauch Meet.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

A warm welcome back to all LAC swimmers, coaches and parents as we embark on a new swim season.  We are especially pleased to welcome a number of new swim families to the club this year.

Our City and the London Aquatic Club have recently been praised by both Swimming Canada and Swim Ontario as successful leaders in the sport.  This year we are excited to utilize additional pool facilities at the University of Western Ontario and the Memorial Boys and Girls Club to accommodate our growing program.

The coaching staff has been busy planning over the summer and we are looking forward to another exciting year of home and away competitions and team events.

Best wishes to all swimmers for a successful and rewarding season.

PAUL CAPPA

LAC President

 THANK YOU & BEST WISHES

Three people who have played a valuable role with LAC over the last several years unfortunately will not be with us this year, and we would like to extend to them our most sincere thanks and best wishes for their future endeavours; CINDY SALMON was a coach with our Development Groups since 2004, as well as filling many crucial roles in a volunteer capacity for the club, and will be greatly missed; BRUCE KNIGHT (whose daughter Jill swam for LAC from 2002-07) was our website administrator, and spent many hours ensuring that the site was kept up-to-date;  and RYAN ATKISON, who swam for LAC, then UWO, and was an assistant coach for the last 2 years, has moved to Halifax to pursue a full-time coaching position.
