IT’S OFFICIAL!

2024 LAC-Hosted Meets:

May 10 - 12, 2024 - LAC - Hollandia Spring Invitational – Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for senior official positions.  Things are looking pretty good at this point.  I have an opening on Friday afternoon and evening, 1 on Sunday afternoon and 3 at Sunday evening finals (which is a 1.5-hour session!) If you want to grab one of those spots, email me.  Please put “Hollandia” in your email subject and let me know who will be helping, the sessions they are available for, and their job preferences, if any.  Signups for Minor Officials (Timers, Safety Marshals, and Inspectors of Turns) will be posted on the LAC site in the next couple of days.  We may be making some session adjustments.

Signing Up for Clinics and Jobs – you need to be registered as an Official to volunteer in any capacity at a meet.  To get registered you can email me with the name, gender and email of the volunteer and we will create the official account so that the official can register themselves.  When you sign up for a clinic or a job on the LAC website a pop-up box for additional information will appear.  We expect you to put the name of the volunteer there, NOT your swimmer’s name, unless they are the volunteer!

Next Clinics:

Chief Recorder – Wednesday, May 1, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM – Zoom.

Inspector of Turns - Tuesday, May 7, 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM – Zoom.

Clinics via eModule: Note that you can take some of the clinics as eModules.  I will probably not be doing live/zoom clinics again for those ones until the fall.  eModules allow you to take the clinics whenever it suits you.  If you go to Swim Ontario - Clinics there are instructions on how to take the online clinics.  The Zoom clinic presentations can be found online as well.  These are great for review but reading those does not count as taking the clinic.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings, L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected]  Note: This is volunteer work for me, so I may not get back to you immediately but, if urgent, I can handle a reminder.

SWIM MEET VOLUNTEER SESSION CREDITS

Please note that high school students can get their volunteer credits for school as well as session credits for your swim family by helping out at our meets.

To check your session credit balance - log on to your LAC account on the website, go to "my account" and click the "service hours" tab to view your account summary. Any questions contact Donna at [email protected]

Our club has a long-standing policy regarding volunteer participation in our hosted swim meets, which includes the earning of mandatory session credits through working at our hosted swim meets.  The session credit policy can be found on the LAC website under the "parent info" tab under "LAC policy #2 - Club Hosted Meets and Session Credits".

Families of swimmers in Age Group and Senior are required to earn 22 session credits.

Families of returning Development swimmers are required to earn 11 session credits.

New families are not required to earn session credits but can transfer up to 5 session credits if they should decide to volunteer (which of course is encouraged and applauded).

Families with swimmers that have transferred from another team are considered returning swimmers and are subject to the session credit policy.

Any unworked session credits will be billed to your swimmer account at $40 per session at the end of the season.

The Session Credit Policy is under the constant scrutiny of the Board of Directors.
