MEET REPORTS:

JUNIOR PROVINCIALS

Our 14 swimmers who travelled to Nepean swam very well - everyone who attended raced with confidence and toughness.  Our best time conversion rate was almost 70% (49 PB's out of 72 swims) which is very respectable at this meet.  Leading the charge was Maggie MacNeil, with 7 medals (3G-1S-3B), while lowering her 10&U club records in 3 events; Jenna Roman collected 4 medals (1S-3B); Aiden Rieckenbrauck won his first-ever Junior Provincial medal, getting bronze in the 200BK, while swimming to personal bests in all 7 of his races; Jessica Allen, Gabrielle Dagasso and Nicholas Mitchell also established PB's in all of their races, with Gabrielle placing 5th in 3 events and Nick 6th in 2 events; Camille Ryan made finals in her BK races while swimming to 4 PB's; Dominic Cappa, Vincent Cappa, Mark Gilmour, Shayna Lewis and Brandon Ryu all achieved PB's in some of their events; and Josef Liska Guzman and Leah Mayer also raced very tough.

NEWMARKET INVITATIONAL

GREAT swimming by everyone who went to Newmarket, especially those who team-travelled for the first time and those who made their first-ever finals sessions (every 13&over LAC'er made at least 1 finals swim!).  The coaches feel this is an important meet for several reasons: 1) it gives focus to your training as we near the end of the short course season 2) it provides the opportunity to experience team travel, helping you learn how to manage yourself at a swim meet without Mom or Dad there to help you  3) it also provides an excellent opportunity for many 13&over swimmers to experience for the first time the challenge of heats & finals.

Many, many thanks to Maria and Jeff Smith for chaperoning.

CANADIAN UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Mustangs women placed 7th overall and the men 8th.  Bryn Jones won 3 medals (1S-2B) in the BR events, and Jake Armstrong won silver in the 50BR.  Hayley Nell narrowly missed out on medals, placing 4th in both the 50&100FR.
