COACHES REPORT

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on some great racing last weekend. Many many personal bests were established throughout the weekend, there was lots of positive team support and spirit, and there were many close battles that LAC swimmers fought hard to win, whther it was a battle for first or a battle for 7th. It's very clear many of you have been training with purpose and passion and persistence, and you have been rewarded for those efforts.  One important thing to remember as we start working toward the next competition: "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just stand there." So, be happy with your results, but don't let yourself become self-satisfied or complacent. Continue working with purpose and passion and persistence toward your next objective!

Special congratulations to: club record-setter and first time top 10 performer Jacqueline Chambers (12/u girls 1500FR); first time top 10 performer Vladislav Zagidulin(13/14 boys 100FL); and our 7 first-time qualifiers: Ryan Jaberi and Kyle Stuckless (Regionals), Ciaran Buyse and Alexandr Zagidulin (Provincial Festival), Ella Mills, Ethan Mills, and Kyla Romero (Ontario Youth/Junior Championships).

LAC swimmers won a total of 230 individual medals! 88 GOLD - 87 SILVER - 55 BRONZE. Congratulations to all of our medalists. And there were 9 swimmers who achieved 22 results that rank in the LAC all-time top 10.

Well done to everyone, including our absolutely awesome parents for their volunteer support throughout the weekend. No officials, no competition. No competition, no opportunity for our swimmers to reap the rewards for their hard work. From the swimmers and coaches, thank you to all who volunteered.

NOTHERS THANK YOU

This past weekend our LAC family pulled together to host the Annual LAC Nothers Fall Invitational Swim Meet. Shawn and I want to thank everyone for their hard work and enthusiasm. Together we welcomed 10 clubs and approximately 575 swimmers into our house for some great swimming and great fun. Coaches, thank you for your patience and responsiveness leading into the weekend. With your help we were able to ensure that had each athlete was placed in the right events with the right seed times.

We couldn't have been successful with such a large meet without the senior officials that travelled in to support us and the volunteers from other clubs who joined our own volunteers on deck and in the office.Behind the scenes our setup crew had us ready to go Friday morning and our canteen team members kept us well fed throughout the weekend. Thank you everyone.

As meet managers we feel very fortunate to have had the support of everyone involved.

Thank you.

Shawn Smith and Karen Campbell – LAC Nothers Fall Invitational Meet Managers

LAC SESSION CREDITS

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

*The number of session credits will be reviewed by the board in the fall upon club enrollment and may be subject to change.

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
