Top 5 teams: LAC - 1640.5pts, GHAC 970pts, GMAC 634pts, WEST 618pts, CW 617pts. Lots of great racing, lots of personal bests, and special congratulations to first-time Festival qualifiers Rachael Caron, Whitney Coome and Noah Gill, first-time Ontario Youth/Junior qualifier Ben Astrachan, and to club record-setter David Hickey. A more detailed overview of our accomplishments will be posted in the NEWS section of the website. Well done everyone, many sincere thanks to our volunteer army for making the meet a success, and now it's time to avoid complacency, get re-focused, and work hard toward the up-coming provincial championship meets. GO LAC GO!

IT’S OFFICIAL!

Western Region Short Course Championship – Thank You!:  Success!  We did it again!  We hosted another spectacular Regional Championship this last weekend.  Congratulations and a huge thank you to our very excellent and extremely fun Meet Managers, Trevor Pool and Martin Troughton!  It really was a great time, and a rewarding result!  There are far too many people to mention everyone here but: Lisa Levy and the Canteen crew kept us well fed; Rebecca Shearer, Stephanie Quigley, and Sonya Beckett organized the minor officials; Kip Sang made sure that all of winners got their awards; and Craig Forsey has been maintaining the timing equipment and producing the meet programs that we sell.  Hiding down in the office and keeping everything running smoothly at all of our meets is Rose Bloch-Hansen, a super-woman for sure!  The team of volunteer leaders is truly awesome and a huge comfort to the Meet Managers and the Competition Coordinator.

Retirement!  Jan Tebbutt - Set-up and Tear-Down Crew Lead: There is a group of people who meet the night before or very early the morning of the meets, often at inconvenient hours.  Then they are the last people to leave the building after the meet is complete.  Sometimes they are enlisted to rent a truck and move equipment over to Western University for a Varsity Meet and then back to CGAC after.  For the last few years the inspiring force and endless source of energy leading this fun and committed (or ready to be committed) group of people has been Jan Tebbutt!  Jan’s last meet in this role was this past weekend and the team will miss her!  If you see Jan around please do thank her for all of her help in organizing and inspiring her team and making sure that everything was ready to go before and safely put away after every meet.  Thanks Jan!  Thank you to Jay Myatt, for taking over from Jan!  You have some pretty big shoes to fill!

Official Registration: As people take clinics, they will need to be registered as an official with Swimming Canada.  We do the initial set up based on the clinic registration information.  When that is done an email will be sent to each newly registered official from [email protected]  In this email are instructions on how to validate and update your account.  Until you do this we cannot register you as an official.  For the 4th of 5th time, we have tried to register a group of 20 or so officials.  Please check your email and spam folders and follow these instructions.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected]

LAC SESSION CREDITS

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

*The number of session credits will be reviewed by the board in the fall upon club enrollment and may be subject to change.

The Session Credit Policies are posted under the “Parent Info" tab On the LAC website.
