COACHES REPORT

Hollandia this weekend - T-shirt rotation: Thu & Sat either royal blue or navy blue; Fri and Sun orange.

LAC PARENTS - SIMPLY THE BEST AT SWIM MEETS BECAUSE:

10)When their child has a good race they say "I'm proud of you and I love you."

9) They work every session at the swim meet and then want to know where the party is!

8) They cheer for LAC swimmers who are not their own children

7) They ask their swimmer after their race: "What did your coach say?"

6)They understand only the 4 fastest swimmers can be on the "A" relay

5)They talk about the importance of "team" things like relays and cheering for teammates

4)They ask "What did you learn?" after their 10 year old gets disqualified for an illegal turn

3)They realize that coaches are human and already feel terrible when they make a mistake...just like them

2)They realize that every swim meet is nothing more than an experiment, and it's the process that counts

1)When their child has a race that doesn't go so well they say "I'm proud of you and I love you."

IT’S OFFICIAL!

Hollandia Spring Invitational – We Need Strokes and Turns and Timers on Thursday and Friday:  For the Thursday session we will be running two swimmers per lane for most of the heats.  This requires 4 timers and we have planned for the S&T person to time along with the 3 timers.  That means we NEED 24 timers and 12 Strokes and Turns officials to run this session.  The Warm-up is at 4:00 pm with a 5:00 pm start.  If you can be there by 4:30 pm for the briefing please sign-up.  We need you.  For the rest of the meet we need 16 timers.  We can mess with the S&T numbers at little bit but we MUST have 2 people timing on every lane.  If you can make it out on Friday please sign up.  We need your help, even if you have already completed your session credit requirement.  If are unavailable now but your situation changes and you become available then please come out and check with the minor officials coordinator to see if we still need help.

Hollandia Changes: We have had to make a few changes to the meet, so for your awareness:

1)    We will be running 2 swimmers per lane on Thursday to avoid ending the session at 9:45 PM.

2)    We moved the 12 and under 200 m Breaststroke to Sunday afternoon to avoid a 5 hour and 29 minute session on Saturday afternoon.

3)    We are starting the Sunday afternoon session 45 minutes earlier to allow the meet to finish earlier.  Warm-up is 11:30 am and start is at 12:15 pm.

Officiating Merchandise: I have had a few people express an interest in Swim Canada Rule Books and occasionally I have people ask about name tags.  If you would like to buy a rule book ($10.00) or a name tag ($9.00), please email me and that can be arranged.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected]

LAC SESSION CREDITS

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. If a swimmer leaves the club after March 1st then the prorated unworked session credits will be billed to their final statement. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

*The number of session credits will be reviewed by the board in the fall upon club enrollment and may be subject to change.

The Session Credit Policies are posted under the “Parent Info" tab On the LAC website.
