Coaching Staff
Steph McKay
14U, 12U, & 10U Girls and Boys Head Coach
Club Director

Coach Steph McKay grew up in San Diego, CA and started playing water polo at age 13. She was a four year Varsity athlete in both swim and water polo, team captain, and set three CIF Division II records her senior year. She went on to play one year at Sonoma State University before returning back to SoCal for school. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, and a culinary degree! Coach Steph has a passion for nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and developing the whole athlete.
Previously, she coached at Del Mar Water Polo Club from 2021-2023 and helped grow their girls water polo program before making the move to Bulverde with her family. She stays active raising three boys, playing Masters water polo, taking care of her chickens and donkeys - and of course - teaching kids about the sport she loves - water polo!
Scott Harris
18U & 16U Girls Head Coach

Coach Scott Harris is an Eagle Scout, and earned a B.A. in History/Psychology from Texas State University in 1990. There, he played water polo for the university for one year, as well as being a key point scorer on the university cycling team, which won back-to-back South Central Conference Championships (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas). He earned an M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University in 2009.
Harris coached swimming and water polo for 12 years at Judson High School, where his favorite team to compete against was Alamo Heights led by Coach Norm Collins. In 2002, Harris moved to Ronald Reagan High School, coaching swimming there for the next six years. Overall, Harris was a 7x District Coach of the Year, and once Regional Coach of the Year, producing: 7 District Champion swim teams, 3 Regional Champion swim teams and 2 Regional Champion teams in water polo. He was twice selected to coach the T.I.S.C.A. All-Star water polo team. Additionally, his teams produced 192 lettermen, 52 All-State athletes in Swimming, Diving & Water Polo, 65 All-Americans in Swimming & Diving, 6 Water Polo All-Americans, 28 Academic All-Americans, 4 Individual Swimming State Champions, 1 Mexican National age-group record, 5 swimmers with Olympic Trials cuts, and 1 Olympian.
Harris retired from coaching in 2008 to help his wife raise their two sons. Still teaching at Reagan, he begins his 35th year this fall, having taught World History, U.S. History, and International Baccalaureate’s Theory of Knowledge, he is currently teaching four courses: A.P. Macroeconomics, A.P. Psychology, Philosophy, and ‘Ethics, Economy, & Entrepreneurship.’
By 2021, Harris’ sons were 14 and 18 -- and therefore too cool to hang out with dad -- so he came out of coaching retirement to help build the AAAA Water Polo team with Joe Linehan and Norm Collins. Harris has coached 14u/16u/18u boys & girls, and for the past two years, specifically the 18u/16u girls. He is the Athlete Safety Officer for AAAA water polo club, and referees the high school water polo (87 games last season), and has taught referee clinics.
Harris is also a consultant to the Free to Choose Network, and an associate producer for izzit.org, both of which produce videos for PBS and high school classrooms advocating economic education, personal liberty, and the ethical pursuit of happiness. His wife of 27 years, Jeska, somehow tolerates all of this.
Carson Miller
16u and 18u Boys Coach

Carson had an impressive water polo career earning accolades such as 3x First Team All-League, 3x First Team All-CIF SDS, 3x Team MVP, 3x Team Captain, and 2x Conference Player of the Year in high school at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego. Playing for Shores in San Diego, they won a Cal Cup championship during his six years of club experience.
At the collegiate level, Carson played at the United States Naval Academy, UC San Diego, and San Diego Miramar College, where he earned All-American honors and led the country in scoring for the 2021 season along with various academic acknowledgements and awards. Specializing as a 2-meter position player, Carson also has three years of coaching experience at Poway Valley in San Diego, CA.
