The London Aquatic Club extends sincere congratulations to Chris Chalmers and Debbie Wurzburger, both of whom recently received word from the Ontario Aquatic Hall of Fame that their nominations for induction into the Hall have been accepted and the ceremony will take place in conjunction with the annual Swim Ontario Conference in September. Chris and Debbie swam for LAC (then London Y Aquatic Club) in the 1980's under Head Coaches Brian Cartlidge then Paul Midgley, and were both national champions and Canadian record-holders in their specialties, distance freestyle. Congratulations to former LAC swimmer Shona Branton who, for the 2nd year in a row, was named Western University's Female Athlete of the Year, on the strength of her two gold medals and competition records at the recent USport Championships in Pointe Claire. London Aquatic Club is pleased to be a recent recipient of a Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Funding of $36,700 is being used to purchase equipment that will enhance LAC's swim training and competition programs. The equipment includes computers, timing equipment and other items required to host swim meets and computers, a storage chest and equipment carts to be used by LAC coaching staff. Maggie Mac Neil – Winner of the inaugural Andrew Craven Trophy for the Performance of the Year! In July Maggie raced to a Silver Medal at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka Japan in a time of 56.45 and won a Bronze medal as part of Team Canada’s Women’s 4X100 Medley Relay (she swam the Butterfly leg of the Relay). Congratulations to our General Manager Donna Moskal, who was honoured last night at the London Sports Hall of Fame ceremony at the Hellenic Community Centre on Southdale Road. Donna was recognized by the Sports Hall of Fame as Administrator of the Year. Of course we all know how lucky we are and have been to have Donna as part of team, in numerous roles, for almost 40 years. This is recognition from the City of London well-deserved and long overdue.
