USA Swimming's Age Group program is designed to develop swimmers from a young age eventually to Senior Swimming and hopefully from there to the National level.  Time standards are designed to support this development by encouraging age group swimmers to step their swimming up to the next level.  These time standards guide you from just starting out in your age group to reaching your highest potential.  Our LSC standards will take you from the beginning "C" standard all the way to your qualifying standards for the LSC Age Group Championships; and beyond to the LSC Senior Championships.  The Hawaiian Swimming Senior Time Standards are also found below.  Zone, Sectional, Junior & Senior National time standards can be found on different websites: Western Zone SwimmingPacific Northwest, and USA-Swimming, respectively.

2024-27 Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Standards:
Notes: Per changes 21-Apr-2024 to LSC P&P, time standards are based off National Motivational Times and to be consistent over the 4-year quad. 12&U are time standards half-way between A & BB times unless pre 2024 HISI times were slower (then keep the slower standard). 13&O are 70/30 between A & BB times unless pre 2024 HISI times were slower. These time standards are based on 10U, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18 age groups. We've also changed the names of our old AAA & AA to CHMP & INVT. Finally, SCY AGC will have finals age groups of 10u, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-18 and will be similarly based on the National Motiviationa Times - our HISI SCY AGC times will be calculated and posted by September 2024.

2021-22 Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Standards:

* Info: Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Time Standards are reviewed each summer. Last year (2020-21 season) had times reviewed in August and without LCM season we elected to keep the standards the samd. This year (2021-22 season) with so few meets through summer 2021, we didn't have sufficient data to updates standards. So the 2021-22 standards are the same as 2019-20 for this year. The forms and zip files will be updated when Western Zone publishes their Age Group time standards.

  • 4/35/22 AG22 Update: Updated pdf   TM Zip file The AG Committee & LSC BOD are extending the AG22 cuts to LCM Champs in July 2022. The .pdf with AG22 cuts has been updated, and the TM Zip File has been updated PLUS the WZ AG Zone times have been included in the Zip file for downloading into spring/summer swim meets.
  • AG22:  pdf   TM Zip file.  The AG Committee has created special Time Standards for AGChamps  on the Big Isle this February 2022. Due to 20 months of CoVid restrictions on practices AND the number of meets, it was decided to adjust qualifying AG Champ standards. As an FYI, we pulled the top 32 times for every event over the last 20 months (post CoVid shut down), then applied same kind of calculations used to create normal time standards as is done each August. The time standards will be in the MM shell when posted for the meet, and we have requested Team Unify to upload to their site ... we don't know when they can get that done.

  • Athlete Participation Statistics for 2016 Through 2019: [pdf]

* Info: Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Time Standards are reviewed each summer.  Each year a subset of the standards are adjusted progressively faster relative to prior years due too the increased number of athletes participating in the sport and the progression of our championship-level athletes using the following procedure.  Most AAA times (championship meet qualifying times) are set such that an average of 34 athletes per event (per age group and gender) would have qualified (not entered) for an Age Group Championship meet for each of the last 4 years. Long distance events are set for an average of 24 athletes per event.  Standards for events with a relatively lower number of participants are set to a similar "quality" level to other events within the same age group.  AA times are 10% slower than AAA times, A times are 10% slower than AA times, B times are 10% slower than A times (except for the 8&U age group where B times are 20% slower than A times), and C times are times that are slower than B times. Due to a drop in 10u and 11-12 registered athletes, those time standards for 2019-20 are a little slower this year.

* Info: Hawaiian Swimming Senior Time Standards are reviewed each summer.  Each year a subset of the standards are adjusted progressively faster relative to prior years due too the increased number of athletes participating in the sport and the progression of our championship-level athletes using the following procedure.  SR-A times for short and mid-distance events are set such that an average of 64 athletes per event (per gender) would have qualified for the Senior Championship meet for each of the last 4 years.  Long distance events are set for an average of 48 athletes per event.  Standards for events with a relatively lower number of participants are set to a similar "quality" level to other events.  SR-B times are 5% slower than SR-A times.
