76 x 50's long course meters - over 2 MILES of ALL BUTTERFLY! We certainly wouldn't encourage this for all swimmers, and only put a whisper in the air of "what if" to a couple of butterfly specialists.....but we wanted to give a GCY "shout out" to 2 swimmers who inspired a team yesterday at High Point City Lake Park! Congratulations ALEX STRASSER and MCKENZIE CAMPBELL!!! Traditionally, GCY does 76 x 50's CHOICE to bring in the 4th of July holiday, and all levels do some sort of variation of...
Applications for NC Zone Team and Scholastic All-American Teams GCY has several swimmers that may qualifity for 1 of these 2 groups, both involve self-applications (swimmer and/or parent apply directly, not coach). Even if you are a year or 2 or more away from this achievement, it might be fun to look at and get familiar with these 2 items. BOTH are swimmer driven (swimmer is encouraged to do the legwork) and are COMPLICATED processes. We have tried to talk individually with those who may qualify, but did not get...

GCY Swimmer Wins the 10K (Poseidon) at NC Open Water Champs! GCY's Morgan Davis topped all Poseidon swimmers and brought home the most unique individual trophy that NC Swimming hands out, the Poseidon 10K Championship! The Poseidon is a 10K SWIM, that's correct, 6.2 miles in the water, and Morgan did it faster than anyone else in NC! GCY has had several swimmers complete the Poseidon, but this is the first time we've had the fastest female, congratulations Morgan! GCY also had 3 other swimmers who completed that race this...
Winning Logo Design gets a FREE Speedo Swim Bag! As many of you know, the GCY Swim Team is hosting North Carolina's State Championship Meet this July, and we'll need a logo for the meet! We thought it would be a great idea to invite all of our GCY swimmers, parents, coaches, and friends an opportunity to design the meet logo; we hope you will! We have a very tentative concept, with a swimmer in the outline of the state or something similar. Anything is possible though, and the winning...
