During the January 20, 2022, meet against Champlin Park, Centennial honored it’s four senior swimmers at their last home meet of their swimming careers. Each of these athletes stepped up to the occasion by turning in fabulous performances. Dominic Stevenson anchored the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 57.16, while Quentin Lehman swam a season best time in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:03.88. The Centennial Cougars competed in Section 7AA True Team meet on January 15, 2022. The team had extremely successful performances in the water as 42 of the races the Cougars swam were either personal records or season best times. On Friday, January 7, 2022, Centennial braved subzero temperatures and blizzard like conditions to make a four-hour trip to West Fargo, ND to compete in the 2022 North Dakota / Minnesota Border Battle Invitational on following day. Centennial boys swimming celebrated Family Night on January 6, by hosting a powerful Spring Lake Park team. Even though 76 of the Cougars performances were lifetime best times, the Panthers easily won the meet with a final score of 95 to 83. With only four first place finishes during Centennial’s home meet with Blaine on December 12, 2021, the Cougars were able to pull out a win with a score of 93 points to the Bengal’s 87. What carried Centennial to a victory over Blaine was the team’s depth and 87 season best times. On Saturday, December 18, the Centennial Cougars placed third at the Bengal Invitational. Head Coach Pete Crawford said that this feat was accomplished by the team’s incredible depth. The Osseo Orioles hosted Centennial for both teams' first dual meet of the 2021-22 season. The forty-five-member Centennial Boys Swimming team had a very rough start to its 2021-22 season. During the Cougars first two weeks of practice, the larger than normal team struggled with mechanical issues at its home pool and needed to find practice time at other pools in the area.
