Tualatin Hills Summer Classic Meet Recap Our Senior Team sent a large contingent down to Gresham, Oregon in mid-July to race at the beautiful Mt. Hood Community College Pool. Senior Seattle Open Wave sent a large contingent of swimming warriors to compete at the Senior Seattle Open July 6-8. It was a tale of cold mornings and hot afternoons. Despite the fluctuating temperatures, everyone stepped up and raced incredibly well. The swimmers all did an awesome job really putting everything they had into their races and executing the race strategies we have been talking about. Wave had yet another amazing meet featuring several new champs cuts, loads of best times and new US Swimming motivational times, and lots of first-time legal swims as we dominated Snohomish Pool and the Issaquah June Open! Missoula Firecracker Classic Meet Recap For the second year in a row, Wave won this big meet, which featured 18 teams from four states. This time, however, we won big by running away from the competition on Day 3, beating the 2nd place team by more than 380 points (2848 to 2465.5)! Way to go Wave!! May Flowers Meet Write Up Our first long course meet of the year was down at KCAC in Federal Way. Every group in Wave was well represented as we adjusted our bodies to 50-meter lengths instead of 25 yards! We saw an amazing number of excellent early season swims. IMX/IMR Meet Report What a great way to start of the Spring/Summer Long Course season with the challenging IMX/IMR meet. Swimmers had to compete in all four strokes + at least one IM swim and all groups had several outstanding swims! IMX (IM Extreme) and IMR (IM Ready) are recognized US Swimming challenge meets. Many of these events are ones swimmers had not done in a long time, resulting in many swimmers dropping HUGE amounts of time, including some who dropped 1:00+!!! Spring Showdown Meet Recap Wave ended the Short Course Season in fine fashion with a fantastic performance at the Spring Showdown, earning our highest team finish since last year’s Montana travel meet. We grabbed 4th place out of more than 30 teams and 900+ swimmers! Age Group Region XII Meet Recap After a four-year absence, the Northwest Age Group Regionals meet returned to the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way last weekend. Nearly 800 swimmers came from six states and more than 60 teams to race in one of our region’s biggest meets of the year. For our 12&Unders, this is the premier meet of the entire year. Wave was represented by seven athletes from Senior Epic at the Northwest Spring Sectionals at Federal Way on March 9-12. Among 42 teams racing, we had a phenomenal meet with amazing swims and each swimmer brought home two or more personal best times! It was exciting to watch all the individual races from our swimmers and to feel the energy from our Boys Relays winning some of their heats while dropping their entry times as well. Daffodil Classic Meet Recap Wave's Sport Team and several members of the Select Team trekked down to Tacoma to swim the first day of the Daffodil Classic. A big shout out to all our parents for making the drive to support their kids, and an even bigger shout out to the parents who stepped up and volunteered to time!
