During late March, 14 swimmers from the Piranhas attended the last ever Swim Canada Western Championships in Winnipeg! Over the four day competition the team achieved over 30 finals and claiming 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 Bronze medals! At the conclusion of the competition the team finished 5th top team! Our most recent swim meet in Grande Cache was an exciting and fun meet! At this meet the top 6 of each 100m event were selected to compete in the “Dash for Cash”. Where Adam O’Connell won twice! Early February the Performance Squads attended the Edmonton Open to further prepare for the upcoming SA Spring Provincial & Championship competitions. During the three day meet the majority of the team gained valuable heats and finals opportunities, set season bests and for some winning cash prizes in the top four finals! Ken Demchuk Int'l Over the first weekend of December we had Brandon compete at his first ever International Para-Swimming Competition. During late January a team of 34 swimmers competed in Sherwood park at the Swim Alberta Festival North competition. The team swam fantastic all weekend taking part in 9 individual events and relays. After the two days of comp the Piranhas once again finished the competition as the best u10/11 club in Northern Alberta with seventeen 1st places, six 2nd places and nine 3rd places! This past weekend we had swimmers competing at JP Fiset, one of the provincial series meets in Edmonton. Piranhas had quite the presence there! Out of 32 teams, we were the 5th largest team. As the new season started for the club, two Piranhas were competing at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Israel for team Canada. After selection at the World Trials back in April Jordan Greber and Oliver Dawson competed against the best under 18 swimmers in the world.
