During the last weekend of November Natalie Clarke travelled to Toronto to compete at the Ken Demchuk International Invitational. At the swim meet Natalie raced against current and future Para Olympians in her best events. Natalie placed with three 5th place and two 6th place finishes in the evening finals and competed as team Alberta in relays. From those results Natalie achieved a second, third, 2 fourths and one fifth place finish in her S6 classification. Amazing swimming Natalie!

BREAKOUT WORLD CUP PERFORMANCES FOR DAWSON Oliver Dawson shines on the international stage at the 2025 World Aquatics World Cups in Westmont and Toronto representing team Canada. After opening with a strong 59.76 in the 100m breaststroke at Westmont, Oliver stormed into Toronto and delivered a massive breakthrough — dropping a 58.54 to smash the Canadian 15–17 National Age Group Record! He also posted a solid 2:09.54 in the 200m breaststroke to round out an incredible meet. Congratulations Ollie!

At the recent World Aquatic Swimming Championships in Singapore Oliver Dawson competed for team Canada against the best swimmer in the world. In the morning heats on day 3 of the competition, Oliver swam a personal best 27.55 in the 50-m breaststroke to tie for 32nd. That was just 0.1 from Scott Dickens’ 16-year-old Canadian record. On July 24-27th Grande Prairie Piranhas brought a team of 25 swimmers to Swim Alberta Provincial Championships to compete against the best of Alberta. With the help of the entire team, Piranhas placed first in the medium team. Congratulations to all the athletes. At the start of summer we sent 15 swimmers all the way down to Medicine Hat for Provincial Trials. The weekend had a lot of great summer success for all attending! We started the meet off with a fantastic Friday, June and Taylor got massive PBs in their 800 FR, finishing 8th and 5th. Annika won Silver in her 800 FR! Early June eight swimmers attended the Canadian Swimming Championships in Victoria B.C. During the 6 days of competition the Piranhas would race the best swimmer across Canada for the opportunity to be selected to team Canada events this summer. The Piranhas were well represented each evening in finals setting many new personal bests and placing very highly in each race. The Piranhas represented themselves at the latest Swim Alberta Summer Festivals in Lethbridge recently. At Festivals we were able to take home 4 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals. Congratulations to Kaislyn Kusyk, June Robinson, Millie Robinson, Taylor Watson, and Vyacheslav Vlasova for contributing to the medal count! Congratulations to Hannah Skinner for competing at her first Swim Alberta Festivals event, also making a final appearance in the 100 Breaststroke. What a great way to finish off a fantastic swim season!

During April 7 swimmers attended the Canadian Open in Edmonton. During the three days of competition the swimmers competed against the best swimmers in Canada as they all prepare for the World Trials this summer. The small group gained lots of experience in junior and senior finals producing strong performances. Mid March a team of over 25 swimmers from the Piranhas competed at the SA Provincial Championship in Edmonton. During the four day championships the team raced heats and finals and produced multiple medalist. At the conclusion of the competition the Piranhas retained the Medium size team banner for the third year and finished an impressive 4th overall in the Province. From March 7-9th earlier this spring, the Piranhas sent 14 swimmers down to Calgary for Swim Alberta's Provincial Trials. We had a weekend of great racing with lots of success from every swimmer in attendance! 3 of our 14 swimmers used the opportunities provided to win an event and earn their place at Provincial Championships, congrats to: Aidan Peters for winning 200 FL and 100 FL.
