What’s the membership of The Mission Viejo Nadadores Masters like?
MVN Masters has over 250+ adult swimmers, most of who swim for fitness, the friendly social atmosphere, and rehab from injuries. The ages range from 18-90!

I’m not a very fast swimmer, can’t swim all the strokes, and am not sure I can finish an hour workout; how good a swimmer must I be to join?
MVN Masters welcomes swimmers of all abilities – we have all abilities – from an Olympic Gold medalist to novice swimmers. If you can swim 4 lengths of the pool, our coaching staff can help you improve your skills and endurance. You don’t need to be able to swim all the strokes to join! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Workouts are adjusted to take into account each swimmer’s ability level.

What if I am too slow for the others in my lane? Will I be grouped with others my own speed?
Each lane is grouped by ability. You will be assigned a lane compatible with your skills.

What are the workouts like? How many yards per workout?
Each workout runs for an hour (don’t worry if you can’t finish the whole hour initially). The coach gives the “sets,” which vary in distance per lane. The faster lanes generally cover slightly over 3,000+ yards per workout, with slower lanes about a third of that distance. Space permitting, you may enter a workout late.

When are workouts available?
Monday - Friday, 5:00-6:00 AM, 6:00-7:00 AM, 9:00-10:00 AM, 12:00-1:00 PM, and 7:30-8:30 PM.  In addition, we also have workouts on Saturday, 6:00-7:00 AM and 7:00-8:00 AM, and Sunday, 8:30-10:00 AM.

What’s the water temperature?
It is usually a comfortable 80-82 degrees.

Are changing rooms and hot showers available?
Bathrooms, showers, and changing facilities are available (no lockers) at all locations.

I’m not in the best of shape now and don’t look so great in a swimsuit. Do I have to wear a racing swimsuit?
Any swimsuit will do. And with over 15 swimmers in an average workout, all body types are represented! People aren’t focused on your looks as much as you might be – just jump in, swim, and get fit! If you put it off, you might never get going.

Can I try a few workouts before I sign up?
Sure, the first two swims within one week are free; complete the online “free workout ” form and submit it, schedule a Zoom meeting with Coach Mark, then show up at the pool and tell the coach that you’re there to check it out. Goggles are recommended. Caps are optional.

What about the social aspects?
Besides getting to know fellow swimmers, MVN Masters sponsors parties, monthly Masters Night Out throughout the year – 2 summer beach parties; the Annual Christmas Party, etc.

Where can I get more information?
Call Coach Mark at 949-233-6521, email him at [email protected], or stop by the pool at one of the workout times.

What are the Guest/Walk-in feesOur "guest/walk-in" policy allows USMS members that have not paid the annual MVN Swims registration fee to swim with us from time to time. Though this is intended predominantly to accommodate those residing outside the South OC area, it also applies to local USMS members that usually swim with other clubs or on their own. The guest/walk-in fee is $15 cash paid to the coach upon arrival. Guest/walk-in swimmers must be currently USMS registered and must bring a photocopy or printout of their USMS card for our files (you can print a copy of your USMS card here). The frequency and duration of guest privileges must be worked out with Coach Mark ahead of time
