4. Words from Coach Mark
Why not mix up your training, while freestyle may be the go-to stroke for many swimmers, incorporating other strokes into your training not only adds variety and physical benefits but also provides you with a sense of achievement and confidence. It also shows you a dedication to constantly improving and challenging yourself.
These strokes (butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke) not only add variety to a workout, but they also work different muscle groups and can improve overall swimming skills. For example, the backstroke targets the muscles in the upper back and shoulders, while breaststroke focuses on the chest and inner thighs. Incorporating these strokes into your training routine not only provides a well-rounded workout but also helps you prevent muscle imbalances that can lead to injury.
Don’t limit yourself to just one stroke when there are so many amazing and rewarding options to explore. With practice and determination, anyone can become a versatile and confident swimmer in all strokes.
Having no fear of training other strokes is amazing. It opens a whole new world of swimming!
Coach Mark
"Mission Viejo Masters Swimming is an exciting, fun, and dynamic workout for adult swimmers of all ages and abilities".
