Weekly Focus: Streamlines
Importance of a Perfect Streamline
- Reduces Drag:
- A perfect streamline minimizes resistance in the water, allowing you to move faster and more efficiently
- Conserves Energy:
- Improves Speed:
- A tight streamline helps you maintain higher speeds off the start and turns, which can be the difference between winning and losing
- Enhances Technique:
Steps for a Perfect Streamline
- Hand Position:
- Place one hand on top of the other, with your fingers fully extended and your thumbs locked together.
- Your hands should be straight and tight, forming a point.
- Arm Position:
- Extend your arms straight above your head, squeezing your biceps against your ears.
- Keep your arms close to your head to reduce drag.
- Head Position:
- Tuck your chin slightly to align your head with your spine.
- Look straight down or slightly forward, depending on the stroke.
- Body Position:
- Engage your core muscles to keep your body straight and tight.
- Your body should form a straight line from your fingertips to your toes.
- Leg Position:
- Keep your legs together and your toes pointed.
- Squeeze your glutes to maintain a streamlined position.
- Push Off:
- When pushing off the wall, maintain the streamlined position as you glide through the water.
- Use a powerful push to maximize your speed and distance.

4. MVN Annually Foundation Meeting
Please join us for the MVNF Annual Meeting and MVNF Board of Director Elections on October 16, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at the Norman P. Murray Center (24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo).
Hear the year in review from the MVNF Board and our MVN Coaches. Learn what is in store for the future from our Executive Director, Michele Mitchell. Candidates for the Board of Directors will also introduce themselves. All members in attendance will receive two (2) service hours for attending.
Open Call for MVNF Board Members: This notice also serves as a call to those interested in serving on the MVNF Board of Directors.
Swim: There are three (3) open board positions for a three-year term.
Dive: There are two (2) open board positions for a three-year term.
All candidates must complete the MVNF Board of Directors application and submit a biography to be circulated to the membership. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Swim Office, [email protected], the Dive Office, [email protected], or via the weekly team emails.
All applications are due to the respective office no later than Friday, September 27, 2024. Candidates are encouraged to attend and speak at the Annual Meeting.
