Weekly Focus: Streamlines

Importance of a Perfect Streamline

  1. Reduces Drag:
    • A perfect streamline minimizes resistance in the water, allowing you to move faster and more efficiently
  2. Conserves Energy:
  3. Improves Speed:
    • A tight streamline helps you maintain higher speeds off the start and turns, which can be the difference between winning and losing
  4. Enhances Technique:

Steps for a Perfect Streamline

  1. Hand Position:
    • Place one hand on top of the other, with your fingers fully extended and your thumbs locked together.
    • Your hands should be straight and tight, forming a point.
  2. Arm Position:
    • Extend your arms straight above your head, squeezing your biceps against your ears.
    • Keep your arms close to your head to reduce drag.
  3. Head Position:
    • Tuck your chin slightly to align your head with your spine.
    • Look straight down or slightly forward, depending on the stroke.
  4. Body Position:
    • Engage your core muscles to keep your body straight and tight.
    • Your body should form a straight line from your fingertips to your toes.
  5. Leg Position:
    • Keep your legs together and your toes pointed.
    • Squeeze your glutes to maintain a streamlined position.
  6. Push Off:
    • When pushing off the wall, maintain the streamlined position as you glide through the water.
    • Use a powerful push to maximize your speed and distance.

Happy swimming!
