Exciting New Features of the Long Course Meet:
  • Five full days of competition with a corresponding change in the Order of Events
  • An additional heat has been added for each Individual Event in the Finals session; this fourth heat will be limited to athletes 15 years and younger.  This will give younger athletes the experience of swimming in the finals session.
  • The order of heats for individual events in the Finals Session has changed; The swim order will be B (Consolation Heat), A (Championship Heat), C (Bonus Heat) and D (15&U Heat).  The expectation is there will be more action in the pool and less idle time waiting for awards to be presented.
  • Additional opportunities to swim in a distance event.  Athletes without an "A" Qualifying time in either the 800 or 1500 freestyle events will have the opportunity to swim these events with their "B" Qualifying time.  After all qualifying athletes are entered, the remaining slots (32 available slots) in each distance event will be filled with the athletes having the fastest "B" qualifying times.
  • Time Trials will be offered on all five days of the meet.

Travel Assistance for Athletes:  Now Closed for applications..
YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) recognizes the commitment an athlete makes to training and competing in swimming and gymnastics competitions. We realize the financial strain these competitions can have on families. Y-USA hopes to alleviate some of the financial pressures associated with participation by making financial assistance available to local YMCAs to help offset an athlete’s transportation and lodging expenses to a YMCA National competition event.  The athlete's YMCA Head Coach can submit the request during the application period which begins May 16 and ends July 11.  More Details

Athlete Volunteers:
Athletes offer devotions/opening thoughts and perform the National Anthem to start each meet session. Devotions should be 1-2 minutes with an optional prayer at the end and should be original expressions of the value of YMCA swimming, community, core values or any other aspect of what they have learned and experienced in the program. National Anthem performers should have experience performing in front of large groups of more than 1,000 people.   Athlete Volunteer Application

Officials/Timers Invitation:
You are cordially invited to help us at this YMCA Championship Meet.    To properly conduct a championship meet of this magnitude requires a large number of officials to staff the deck each day. All officials attending the meet are strongly encouraged to sign up to work at this meet.    Timer positions may also be available depending on the number of swim official volunteers.
