GUPPIES

This group is for novice swimmers, 6-10 years of age, new to competitive swimming who can swim 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke and are familiar with butterfly and breaststroke.  At this level, the emphasis is on having fun while learning the competitive strokes, dives, and turns, and becoming familiar with swim meets and competition.

Three practices are offered per week.

Swimmers in this group agree to compete in monthly meets.

Well-fitting suit (such as jammers for boys and 1-piece for girls)

Goggles.

Kickboard

Fins

Water Bottle

Running Shoes
 

ADVANCEMENT

Swimmers may advance to the Dolphins Group from Guppies.

Swimmers are required to have attended at least 3 meets before advancement. Swimmers must be able to do 50s kick on 1:10(scy)/1:15(lcm) and 50s swim on :55(scy)/1:00(lcm) and have completed the USA Swimming Dive Progression.
