Junior 1 (8 & Under)

 

Age Group: Swimmers 8 years old and under

Overview: Junior 1 is our entry-level group designed to build strong fundamentals and introduce young swimmers to competitive swimming in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. The focus is on body position, breathing, and early stroke development. Swimmers in this group are typically new to the sport or transitioning from swim lessons.

Practice Schedule:

  • Tuesday: 6:15–7:30 pm (6:15–6:30 dryland/stretch • 6:30–7:30 swim)

  • Thursday: 6:15–7:30 pm (6:15–6:30 dryland/stretch • 6:30–7:30 swim)

  • Sunday: 12:00–1:00 pm

Required Equipment:

  • Team suit

  • Goggles

  • Swim cap (required if hair is at/below shoulder length)

Goals:

  • Learn and develop all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly)

  • Improve comfort, confidence, and body position in the water

  • Practice good training habits (listening, lane etiquette, effort)

  • Prepare for fun, developmentally appropriate meets
