From Coach Wedaman: Far Westerns is one of the oldest age group championship meets in the country at over 50 years of age. It has very fast time standards and attracts swimmers from all over the country and from Canada, Mexico and Japan. This year the weather has outstanding and the swimming was fast. We had three swimmers attend the meet Tim Lee, Abby Mitchell, and Jalen Lloyd. Tim competed in 7 events the 50, 100, 200, 500 free, 100 back, 100 and 200 fly; Jalen Lloyd swam the 100...

The Senior Elite swimmers were invited to participate in a trials and finals meet against 6 other teams in from our LSC. We took this meet seriously as an opportunity to swim fast in the middle of their high school season and see where they were after some great training to start off this year. On a couple days of rest, the swimmers really rose to the occasion and swam great; recording many best times, earning spots in finals in nearly every event, and even claiming a few individual championships!...

LAST CHANCE MEET From Coach Carly: While the red group was not out in full force for the Last Chance Swim Meet it was a great experience. After having done both the Fall and Winter Greatness Challenge, the swimmers were very prepared to go fast and it is a lot of fun when you know you are ready. Tim Lee had an outstanding three days, he won the 13-14 boys high point award, and he set two new team records in the 100 Free and 100 Butterfly. From Coach Brad: The Heartbreaker was a true test of character this year, as cold temperatures and constant rain battered the swimmers throughout the weekend. Despite the adverse conditions, however, the Senior Elite group rose to the occasion, and managed to turn in quite a few great performances. After spending our first few weeks of the New Year working on technique for all of our strokes, the Elite group came into the weekend looking to implement some of their new changes. Overall I saw some great progress – the swimmers...

The All Star tri-meet with San Diego and Central California found Sierra Nevada in second place behind San Diego. The weather was outstanding and the All-Star team did a great job of handling the travel by bus and their stay in the hotel. There was a pasta dinner with all three teams Saturday night in the cafeteria at Bakersfield Community College where the meet was held and the teams had a chance to meet and play a few games. There were several outstanding swims turned in by our Tim Lee,...

Our own Tim Lee (Silver 1 group) will be represnting the Vacaville Wave Swim Team as a part of the Sierra Nevada All-Star team this weekend in Bakersfield, CA! Each year our LSC selects 8 boys and 8 girls from each of the 10 and under, 11-12, and 13-14 age groups, to take part in a three-way meet against the all-star teams from Central California and San Diego Imperial Swimming. This two-day meet features some of the best young swimmers from different regions in California and is both a fun...

From Coach Wedaman: The weather finally caught up with us; it was cold. This meet is a senior meet which means that the swimmers in the meet are 13 and up, lots of high school aged and some college aged swimmers. That means that our 13 and 14 year olds had to step up to the next level in their swimming and swim like the big guys and they did a very good job of that and also handling the weather. This being a trails and finals meet means that...

From Coach Lauren: Our dual meet with CCA was cold, but successful! For many Vaca swimmers this was their first meet, and they did an amazing job! They learned how a meet ran, how to swim fast races, and how to have fun doing it. For our experienced swimmers, this meet was challenging and rewarding. The cold was a huge factor for most, but everyone persevered and swam great races. We had many best times and several first-time swims in the 500 free. All swimmers should be proud of what...
