Storm Forecast for November 29th, 2023
The Busy Season
December marks the toughest part of the season for swimmers, parents, and coaches alike. Meets on the next three weekends means no “breather” days, capped off with the massive volunteer commitment of the Winter Classic, our largest event of the year. For our older swimmers, the Christmas break that follows is the time when coaches hope for more practice attendance than usual, too. It’s a slog--take a deep breath, January will be much more calm.
Time Standards
Last year, I made a lovely piece on time standards, specifically the USA Standards--what they mean in the short term, how to decipher them, all that fun. It’s too darn long for the newsletter, so for new families--here’s some light reading.
Meet Entry Deadlines
Meet Notes
→The Distance Challenge is going to be bigger and better this year, with a t-shirt for participants and a variety of distances--even a prize or two! Signup is now open
→On the weekend of 1/12, there are a pair of meets--it’s not necessary to do both. One or the other is fine!
→All the pertinent details are up for the 12&U travel meet to Oswego. We’ll take exactly one bus load of children. So after it fills, we’ll close registration. There’s rumor that the host team is going to have a taco bar for after the meet!
→Our Winter Classic deadline is tomorrow. There are 42 swimmers undeclared. Boy, it makes my life easier if you mark your swimmer as yes or no. My feelings wont be (entirely) hurt if you so no. Just…don’t say nothing at all.
